We really poured our heart into Ford’s nursery, especially the vertical board & batten accent wall. This was our first DIY project at our new home. We couldn’t decide if we wanted a geometric pattern, like Within the Grove (http://withinthegrove.com/creating-a-modern-wood-accent-wall/) or a vertical board & batten wall, like Honey Built Home (http://www.honeybuilthome.com/vertical-board-batten/). I decided to do a combination of those two ideas. I’m thankful I found their blogs, because it really inspired our project.

We also couldn’t have completed the accent wall without our friends, Morgan & Dan, who already had experience and tools from completing one in their nursery. It was amazing how quickly it came together. Because our friends brought the tools, our supplies for the accent wall only added up to around $100!

I’m also grateful to have found @linseywoods.home on Instagram for the decor inspiration in the diaper changing area of the nursery. And I really love supporting local shops, which is why I ordered several things on Etsy.

It’s such a gratifying feeling knowing we worked really hard on this project for our baby. We had considered hiring a contractor to complete the accent wall, but every time I walk in the nursery, I’m proud we took it on ourselves. We are new homeowners and if we can do it, anyone can! We’re looking forward to more projects like this in the future.

Hi Daniela! Thank you! It’s from Sherwin Williams and it’s a custom color, but it’s very similar to Agreeable Gray. I hope this helps!

Hi! Looks beautiful! How did you attach the letters to the wall? And are they attached to the molding or the wall?

Hello, what color did you use for Ford’s name? Is it gold or one of the stain colors?

Hi Jenny! Thank you! We used Gorilla mounting tape. The tricky part was the “R” because it wasn’t aligned on an MDF board which set it back from the rest of the letters. We cut another small piece of MDF, painted it, and put it behind the “R” before mounting it, so they’re all even!

Hi Melissa! We used 1×1.5″ boards, but you can really use any size you think is best. I’ve also seen 1×2″ and 1×3″ used. For the top and bottom trim, you can use any size, too. I honestly can’t remember what size we used, but I’ve commonly seen 1×5″. Good luck!
