Gretchen’s Grey and Pink Nursery

Description

I wanted a non-themed but girly room that would age well as Gretchen grows up.  I wanted to DIY what I could (art, linens, refinishing my childhood dresser) while also investing in quality pieces that will hold up for future children (crib, glider, bookshelves).

Design Inspiration

The fabric!  I had a general color scheme in mind but once I found the fabric for the curtains and crib skirt I officially had my jumping off point (channeling my inner Sarah Richardson!)  The colors and circles in the fabric are repeated throughout many of elements of the room.

Decorating Style

I lean towards modern and love pops of color.

The pennant banner sewn by my best friend, I picked out the fabrics and she did the rest.  Looking at it always makes me smile and wish she were here.

Advice

If you want to avoid a themed nursery,  focus on fabric.  Fabrics are one of the best places to draw your inspiration and pull a non-themed nursery together.

Pretty, girly room. I like the clean look, so I hope it stays that way, knowing you still have a few more weeks to go and have enough time to add more decorative elements.
