Colorful Ikea Inspired Playroom

Description

This is our breakfast nook turned into a playroom. I had big plans for this space. Unfortunately, when the economy took a hit last year, so did my furniture/shopping budget. Sooo Ikea came to the rescue. It's been so great, I would hate to change it now simply because it's so functional and fun.

Design Inspiration

I needed bins, lots of bins to organize and hide toys. When on a budget, Ikea's plastic storage bins are the very best solution.

Decorating Style

Fun and clean. I love to have everything organized (when I can).

Project Details

Paint is "Mountain Air" by Behr. Bins, art desk, 4 rugs ($14 each) and most seating from Ikea. Plastic chairs and cardboard bins are Container Store. The white train table seen in some of the photos was a $30 DIY project from Home Depot with Grandpa's help.

Favorite Items

The hanging art wall with chalkboard paint. Everyday my son come's home from preschool with new art and we clip with plastic clothes pins it to the wire that runs across the molding for display!

I would love to know where you purchased your rug in this room?

  3. The black, orange & white elements~ nice color combinations.  The room displays a playful, yet not too serious look.  clevertomato
