Caroline’s Cozy First Birthday

Description

For Caroline's December birthday, I wanted a cozy feel so I chose a site with a large fireplace, leather sofas, wood paneled walls, and an intimate spot for everyone to be together.  I wanted mostly white foods.  I'm disappointed I didn't get a better picture of the cozy fireplace area.

Design Inspiration

Fresh, clean, sparkly snow.

Decorating Style

Relaxed and fun.  Simple, but elegant.

Project Details

A friend, Erica Praschan with Erica Praschan Interior Design, made the cake.  We agreed a fluffy white, buttercream cake with sparkling sugar was just right.  I also made meringues sprinkled with sparkling sugar.  The Hot Cocoa on a Stick is always a hit and looks pretty too.  I made cocoa blocks and homemade marshmallows and put them on sticks for serving.  I used coconut to line the tray for a "snow" feel.  Adults took home Hot Cocoa on a Stick for favors while kids took home a board book.  White cotton candy had a fun snowball feel.  I love the products from Gaddie and Tood, a local designer of amazing party things!  She recently stopped doing custom orders but has many WONDERFUL printables with great instructions.  I ordered invitations from the Gaddie and Tood Etsy page and used her printables for other party things.  http://gaddieandtood.typepad.com/

Favorite Items

I LOVED the birch tree place card holders which were borrowed from my friend and constant party planning/lifestyle assistant Erica Praschan.  The party hats also turned out really sweet.

Love the theme! Something about winter, snowflakes and snow is just magical.

So nice! I love the silvery winter theme and your use of warm and cozy hues. It’s a wonderful contrast!
