Baby Hawthorn’s Dream Sanctuary

Description

We wanted to create a calm, cozy and whimsical space with natural elements and steer away from primary coloured dancing animals!

Design Inspiration

The natural world! Fairy artwork; driftwood collected from our cottage; rocks from travels around the world; woodland adventures. Items that reflected elements that were sacred and special to us.

Decorating Style

Birch and burlap; warm and whimsy

Project Details

Gulliver crib, shelves and frames from www.ikea.com; birch dresser found Ikea re-painted and added driftwood handles. Moses basket from Restoration Hardware. The lights wrapped around our birch staff also came from RH. Our incredibly comfortable rocker/lazy boy came from Room to Grow.  Change table was an old table that we added come compartments to hold diapering needs- can later become a desk. We made the bird mobile based on pattern from Spool Sewing.

Favorite Items

The mobile may be our favourite item as we had seen it on pinterest for so long and knew we wanted to make it and then when we found out I was pregnant it seemed the perfect baby mobile. We picked out our fabric samples and spent an evening sewing, stuffing then placing and balancing birds- the hardest part!

The chair is also AMAZINGLY comfortable, like a spare bed!

Advice

Keep it simple and hearted. We love everything in the room and instantly feel serene when we walk into it so the baby will feel that calmness as well.
