Baby Girl Lyon’s Nature Retreat

Description

A nature-inspired nursery for a baby girl with vintage, modern, and handmade touches.

Design Inspiration

The room was initially inspired by two gender-neutral, nature-inspired fabrics I found to make crib bedding, one with different colored leaves and one "wood grain" look.  Once we knew we were having a girl, I sought out soothing compliments with handmade touches to make the room feel cozy and special.

Decorating Style

My style is eclectic without being overboard.  I like to mix colors, patterns and both vintage and modern inspiration along with nature-inspired materials.

Project Details

Bedding:  Handmade by me;  Tree wall decal, Etsy.com; Bird art prints: Etsy.com, Galarie Anais; Dresser, bought at Goodwill and refurbished; Wall decor and shelving, Hobby Lobby; Crib, Babies 'R Us

Favorite Items

One of my favorite things in the room was a simple, personalized craft. I reused a small wooden "crate" packaging box that came with a Christmas gift, applied two different decorative scrapbook papers to the back, and glued a cardboard letter "P" on top.  I found a cute owl patterned ribbon and hung the crate on the wall as a way to further personalize the room.

Advice

Don't limit yourself to things that are exclusively made as "Baby" Decor.  Find small, meaningful pieces that you love and use them.  Also, if you can find one piece that you love -a fabric, even a piece of scrapbook paper - buy it and keep it in your purse and let it serve as your color palette for the rest of the room.

So love the cute little details! Take for example those Chinese paper lanterns above the crib, and those bunch of curiosities above the little shelf. with wicker bins.
