I knew I wanted something bright, colorful and fun. We eventually found out we were expecting a boy, however, this room is still pretty gender neutral and most of the elements could work for either a boy or girl.
I started by collecting pictures of things I liked from Pinterest, Etsy, etc., but I was really inspired once I found the bedding. After I settled on that, I kind of just worked everything else around it. The broad range of hues in the bedding made for endless possibilities in the room's overall color scheme.
My general decorating style can best be described as "cozy" contemporary. I also like to experiment with different colors, patterns and textures.

Whale Tissue Box: DIY project (inspired by Shop Sparkly Pony on Etsy)
Probably my DIY Projects- the wall letters and the whale tissue box . I had seen the tissue box on Etsy, but I just couldn't justify spending money on something I could make myself. I think my DIY version turned out pretty cute.
Start with one or two pieces you love, and then build your room from there. Also, creating an Olioboard where you can move your ideas around to see what will or won't work together can save you time and money purchasing the wrong things.
