Alayna’s French Lavender Nursery

Description

This is a nursery we created for our daughter that we recently adopted.  I wanted things that I love in this room: lavender, things that reminded me of France, children's books, things that are cozy and snuggly, and most of all pictures of our baby girl, us and her birth parents who gave us the most amazing gift in the world!

Design Inspiration

I have always been in love with all things French and have spent a few summers there.  I wanted to have a nursery mostly based around the lavender plants.   I love the smell, look and textures of lavender.  It is a calming smell and I wanted her nursery to have the feeling of calmness.

Decorating Style

I love color.  I love things that coordinate together, but don't necessarily match.  I love textures and layers.

Favorite Items

I love the lavender field canvas as soon as you walk in.  I feel calm when I see it.  I love our really comfortable rocker.  My favorite things though in the room are the pictures of our baby and our birth parents.  We are really close to them and I love seeing pictures of them in her room.

Advice

My advice would be think of something that you love and inspires you and create your room around that, even if it isn't a traditional idea for a room (ie, a lavender field nursery). :D  Put things in the room that have sentimental value and it will always be a room you love!

Sorry just saw this Christine. We actually ended up using a color, and it was too brown looking, so my husband who has some art background did some mixing and created this color, so I guess it was a custom one ;D
