A Colorful Playroom

The client gave usĀ their basement to convert into a playroom for their three childrenā€”and all their friends. The only challenge we faced was the lack of natural light.

Design Inspiration

Our starting point was this unique and colorful robot wallpaper. We chose something whimsical to bring both a sense of fun and vibrant color to the space.

Decorating Style

Modern and whimsical.

Project Details

We changed the space by adding wallpaper, painting the walls and shelves and adding new carpets. In a few cases, we reused shelving they already owned, giving them a new coat of paint and a bright new lease on life. We brought in a variety of seating elements and furniture types to suit whatever mood the children are in on any given day.

Favorite Items

We found the perfect play table from a school supply storeā€”its height can be adjusted easily, so it can grow with the children and also be a comfortable place for the parents to sit when they are coloring with their children. The table allows for bins underneath for storage, making it functional on multiple levels. The bright colored chairs we used enlivened the neutral table.

where did you get the chairs? I would love to see the 'credits' so to speak, of where the items are from. This is fabulous!

My girls fell in love with this room when they saw the photos. They were looking over my shoulder and were in awe. Now they want me to make them a playroom like this!

Beautiful job! Really fun colors. Nice way to brighten up a basement.

Where is the wallpaper you mention? I don't see it in any of the photos. I'm also confused by that large green column(?) in the first image, and all those doors! Just not entirely sure what I'm looking at.Ā
