A Calm and Colorful Maine Nursery

Description

I love neutrals and thought calming gray walls were a great place to start.  We slowly added all the colorful accents and the room came together in a really great way.  The changing pad and bed skirt still need to be completed, but I am really proud of our nursery that is almost complete!

Design Inspiration

I found the Elephant/Paisley curtain fabric on Spoonflower and worked from there.

Project Details

Crib - Target, a gift from my dad and stepmom

Dresser/Changing Table - This was the dresser in my husband's room on the farm where he grew up.  We sanded and painted it and brought it back to life.

Side Table - A $5 Salvation Army find that I painted and added a Mackenzie Childs drawer pull to

Glider - Babies R'Us, a gift from my mother and father in law

Curtains - Spoonflower.com, lovingly made by my mom

Shelf Unit - Target, accessorized with turtles from my turtle collection, gifts from the shower, etc

Round Braided Rug - a great, inexpensive Craigslist find

Bunting Flags/Embroidery Hoops - Made by a sweet friend, the colors work beautifully with the nursery

Wall Shelf - A curbside find I've had since college, I repainted it and accessorized with adorable elephant figurines I found at a yard sale

Wall Art - ABC's above crib is from Target, Dog prints above dresser from Wallfry on Etsy,  everything else is DIY and turned out beautifully

Favorite Items

This is a tough one and it is really hard for me to choose.  Absolutely love the dresser, dog prints, wall art, elephants and pretty much everything else!

Advice

Take your time, incorporate old and new items and pieces that mean something to you.  DIY as much as possible.
