countdown calendar

Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend. I spent some time with some of my young friends this last week, and I came to the conclusion that each one of them is in the "question" phase. "What is this?" "How did this get there?" "When will we be there?" "How many more days until we _____?" I'm always looking around for charming products for you and your little ones, and when I saw this, I knew I had to share it.This countdown calender from Chasing Fireflies is practical, useful and oh so cute to place in your child's room. Whether you are counting down to a birthday, a new baby or even a holiday, this calender (with its rotating numbers) is the perfect way to get your kids involved and answer some of those questions!

nolan baby bracelet

I’ve always been a sucker for anything shiny and sparkly. Playing dress-up with my mother’s old costume jewelry was a favorite playtime activity when I was a little girl and my 6-year old daughter has inherited that same admiration. When I spotted the beautiful baby ID bracelets by Nolan in a magazine I was immediately intrigued by this chic jewelry line. When I realized that Nolan has baubles for both baby, child and mom I thought – bonus!

DIYBedcrop

I wanted to share with you my latest DIY project—how to make your own pallet bed. Adding baby #3 into the mix put us in a pickle that required some rearranging/redesigning. Bunking up the two older kiddos made the most sense; that way the upcoming arrival would get his own pad. Even though it was quite a bit of work since I am halfway through my pregnancy, it was so much fun to dream up and watch this project evolve. Our oldest has been in a twin bed for quite some time, so our first instinct was to add another twin bed, but we ran out of real estate fast. Bunk beds, a common, small space solution, wouldn't work for us since our oldest only turned three a few months ago. Instead, I looked for an "in between" sized bed, and it turns out IKEA happens to have a mattress, the Vyssa Vinka, in just the right size—smaller than a twin, bigger than a toddler bed and big enough for a few years of growth. With such a specialty-sized mattress, finding the perfect frame was going to be a challenge. When I realized I wasn't going to find the exact idea I had in my head, I knew I had to get creative and start this little DIY project. I did some research and decided I wanted a platform style bed using wooden pallets on casters. Unfortunately, finding a pallet that isn't in need of some stray nail removal, major sanding and general TLC would not prove easy, so I decided it would be best to make my own pallets …

PetiteLemon_AlphabetPoster

I am hands down smitten with Petite Lemon. They had me at just 24 inches with their growth charts and the letter “a” for their poster prints. I review lots daily and quite frankly I don’t normally find myself gushing over a graphic design but what the heck! After a quick glance, I think you’ll understand where I am coming from…

Last week the lovely team at Serena & Lily held a Nursery Style 101 Event at their headquarters in Sausalito, CA. I have to say that being a San Francisco based blogger I was thrilled to have the opportunity to attend a local nursery design event for designers and soon to be local moms. It was a privilege to catch a sneak peak at all the newest S&L products, meet the designers and hear about all the exciting things they have on tap for the year.

Out of the blue, we looked at our published post count tonight and said, “Holy cow! Our next post is number 1,000. What a milestone.” As two busy moms, we are incredibly proud of what we’ve done, who we’ve become and where we plan to go. If you don’t know our story, we’re long time friends Melisa & Pam who thought it could be fun to start a design project together. We mentioned this to our husbands and then ran off to a tapas bar, kid-free for a brainstorming session.

Urban Tickle Art for Kids rooms

Shopping for art for your kids rooms should be fun and exciting. There are so many ways to dress up the walls to give them personality and as a way to compliment the style of the room. I’ve recently discovered Urban Tickle and I’d love to design an entire room around a few of their framed prints. The art feels fresh and delightful and the Urban Tickle Etsy shop has lots of options, from prints to canvas art to birth announcements.
