Blue Sheep

A few weeks ago, on one of those warm end of summer days, I jumped in the back of a yellow taxi to visit the legendary Scalamandre townhouse. To be very honest, many moons ago, I saw the name Scalamandre and thought it was pronounced "salamander." Say it with me, Scal-uh-mahn-dray.  This legendary house of design has a very rich history. In brief, the grandaddy of it all, Franco Scalamandre, sailed to New York from Italy in 1923 in search of freedom and opportunity. In 1929, he met his wife Flora Baranzelli who studied at Parsons School of Design. She painted some of their earliest patterns. I am a sucker for the finest crafted trimmings and details. The hand-made tassels that can be found in this house are fit for royalty; they use classic techniques and only the finest silks. On staff they have a tassel expert—yes, a person whose sole purpose is to design and create tassels and trims. Can you say amazing!? Check out the pink fluffy trimming above—it belongs on the legs of a dear old friend of ours. Yes! Big Bird is a client! I mean, come on. I always knew that bird had high-end gams. Scalamandre is truly a multi-faceted resource! I was loving the wallpaper on the left; it looks like ruched fabric, so billowy. Personally, I love using sophisticated products in children's rooms. Leafing through the flats of fabric, I fell in love with this rainbow of possibilities. Scalamandre's Moiré fabric and wall covering are so …

Chocolate Chip Cookie Cup Sundaes

We shared our cookie party post last week, and in case you missed it, here it is again along with some quick and easy cookie DIY treats! What's a party without yummy treats? With the help of some fabulous refrigerated cookie dough, we made a bunch of delicious cookie creations! First up, mini cookie cups. We used a mini-muffin pan to create these perfect bite-sized sundaes. Scoop cookie dough into the greased mini-muffin pan and bake for 12-15 minutes at 350 degrees or until golden. Once they come out of the oven, take the end of a wooden spoon and press down the center of the cup while still warm. Let the cookie cups fully cool before removing from the pan. Next, top these mini treats with ice cream and all of the toppings—a melon baller works great for petite scoops of ice cream. The second treats we are sharing are chocolate chip and birthday sugar cookie whoopie pies. Again we used refrigerated cookie dough to make the cookies. As a time saver, we found cookie filling icing that is already prepared and ready to go. Ta-da! You can leave them plain or decorate with candies and sprinkles! They're super easy, but nobody has to know that! So what is a party without pizza? Well here is our version...a cookie pizza! We pressed cookie dough (approx 1/4" dough) into a 9" round greased cake pan and baked at 350 degrees for 12 minutes. We opted for a cake pan in lieu …
