Cariboo-Folding-Bassinet

When it comes to baby gear, it's hard to decide between necessity and luxury. The bassinet was one of the items I went back and forth on. It was important to me that my baby spent the first few months next to our bedside, but I didn't want to purchase an item that would only be used for a few months. This is why I think the Cariboo Bassinet with Changer and Toy Box Conversion is genius! This high-end bassinet fits the bill of function and style! Its lightweight design makes it easy to move around the house and store when not in use. The best part? It's also completely functional when baby isn't sleeping in it. The Bassinet Changer can be added and fits securely on top, so it can be used as a changing table or shelf. Once baby has outgrown the bassinet and moved on to the crib, the bassinet converts into a toy box. Designed to be a convenient height for your child, it has plenty of room for those large soft toys. WIN IT! One Project Nursery reader will win an espresso finish Cariboo Folding Bassinet with Bassinet Changer and Toy Box Conversion (a $527.90 value!). Open to U.S. residents only. Beaba Babycook Pro2x

Since we're talking baby food in our Project Kitchen series. We thought it would be fun to team up with industry leader Beaba and offer our readers the chance to win the new Beaba Babycook Pro2X (a $200 value!). Making your own baby food really isn't complicated at all; it allows you to serve your baby fresh food, and it lets you control the ingredients. Beaba has been making baby food makers for over twenty years, and their design keeps getting better, which means making baby food is getting easier and easier. I got the chance to try one of these one-stop-shop baby cooking machines for my own nine-month-old's food. I love being able to make home-cooked meals for my little one, but as a mom of two, my time is tight. The Babycook simplifies the process. It allows you to steam cook, puree, defrost and reheat all in the same machine, and the Pro2X has twice the capacity. This allows you to make larger portions, cook two meals at once or, my favorite, have one blending bowl in the dishwasher and have the other still in service! Those are magic words for all you exhausted, multi-tasking mamas out there—dishwasher safe! The Babycook Pro (shown above) and Pro2X were designed to allow for one-handed use. I tested it out with my baby on my hip (where he can often be found) and had no trouble loading the machine, setting it to cook and then transferring the cooked food from steamer …

The room reveal of this ah-mazing nursery is too cute for words. This happens to be the room of a friend of mine. Oh, yes, she is a designer, and she is Jo behind J & J Design Group. These two women produce the most fabulous room designs, so I knew before even seeing the room unveil that it was going to be super fabulous! There are so many incredible design elements wrapped into this space, and we want to share all of their fab DIYs, designer tips and tricks. How about a closer look at the darling mustache drawer pulls—fab! How is that for some little man modern sophistication? I am totally in love with the personalized collage wall. Introducing Solid Foods to Baby

Introducing solid foods to your baby is a major milestone. Make sure you have the video camera ready to catch those first "What the heck is this?!" faces that almost all babies make. When you first start giving solid foods to your baby, they barely qualify as solids. It's really still expressed breast milk or formula mixed with a tiny bit of food fed with a spoon. You work your way up to a thicker consistency as your baby gets used to it. The current recommendation from the AAP is to start solid foods around six months of age. You should introduce foods one at a time, and slowly, to make sure your child doesn't have any sensitivities or allergies to that food. Ask your doctor what time length he or she suggests waiting between introducing new foods—I've heard everything from four days to a full week. When it comes to that super, runny baby food like rice cereal or baby oatmeal, I prefer using cloth bibs. My favorite cloth bibs are from aden + anais. No other bib I've tried absorbs as well. They're super soft for wiping baby's face, and boy, will you do a lot of wiping when your baby first starts learning how to eat from a spoon. Bonus: they are great for teething drool and spitting up babies as well. I love Boon's 2-in-1 feeding spoon, Swap, for beginning eaters. It is the perfect serving size, and it's angled perfectly for mom and baby's comfort. …
