Your little T-Rex is going to go wild for this prehistoric Dinosaur Roar birthday adventure! Everything from the jungle balloon garland and dinosaur cookies to the palm leaf plates creates a cool, modern, dino-mite celebration. It’s an adorable theme for little boys and would even be cute for a baby shower. We’ve excavated all the details on this party so you can throw one of your own!
Dinosaurs are super rad. When brainstorming new party collections to add to our shop, we knew we had to put a dinosaur theme into the mix. Then, we saw this awesome invite from Minted, and it sealed the deal. We love this color combo of blues and greens and the playful (not too scary) dinosaur.
When dreaming up this party, we wanted it to be fun and playful, with a rain forest vibe for guests to romp, stomp, ROAR and explore! The focal point of the decor is this fabulous balloon garland that we offer in our shop as a DIY kit. It includes everything you need: two sizes of balloons in navy blue, teal and lime green polka dot; balloon strip; balloon hand pump; and palm leaves.
Trust us when we say that this garland is super simple to put together. You can assemble up to 48 hours in advance of your celebration. We recommend starting early so you have enough time to put it together and hang it just the way you want!
We kicked it up a notch by spelling out ROAR with silver foil letter balloons and draping it across the front of the garland. We also added a tissue tassel garland to the dessert table for an extra pop of color.
We love to double up and use desserts as party decor. They look so adorable on display coordinating with the party’s theme and color scheme.
Let’s start with this cake. We simply frosted it in bright, lime green frosting, sprinkled coconut “grass” on top and nestled in a couple of dinosaur toys. Easy!
We used the same green frosting on the cupcakes, stuck them in blue polka dot wrappers and topped them with assorted mini dinosaur toys. All of these items can be found in our handy-dandy cupcake kit!
Last but not least, our mom’s amazing sugar cookies. Seriously, there’s nothing this woman can’t bake. We are so thankful for her talent and support of our business (love you mom!). These dino-mite cookies are too cute for words. We offer a cookie kit in our shop that includes a T-Rex cookie cutter, cellophane bags, satin ribbon in navy blue and lime green, and our mom’s sugar cookie recipe card!
Activities are a must to keep these wild dinosaurs under control! Here are a few ideas for a fabulous dino adventure.
Dinosaur Egg Hunt. Designate an area of the party space for a dino egg hunt. Fill plastic eggs with small toys and trinkets (candy, temporary tattoos, stickers, mini dinosaurs) and hide them all over the hunting grounds. Guests will love searching for the hidden eggs. The level of difficulty (i.e., how hard the eggs are hidden) can be adjusted based on the age of the children.
Dinosaur Dig. Let your little excavators play paleontologist and fill up a sandbox or plastic tub with sand. Bury some really cool dinosaur fossils and give party guests paint brushes to carefully uncover them just like a real scientist. Set out magnifying glasses and a dinosaur book so they can examine and identify the fossils. Ask children to re-bury the fossils when they are done, so that their friends can uncover them. At the end of the party, allow guests to take a fossil home. They will love it!
Erupting Volcanos. The classic baking soda, vinegar and food coloring volcanoes will be the hit of the party! This is a fun recipe and it doesn’t require you to spend hours building a papier-mâché volcano. Make sure you have plenty of the supplies on hand because the kids are going to want to do this over and over again!
This party is a guaranteed “ROAR-ing” good time!
