Blake is a five-year-old little boy who loves all things outdoors, LEGOs and motorcycles. This was such a great list to use as our inspiration for his room design because it includes so many cool interests that would work great together! We couldn’t wait to get started, and we love the finished space. Welcome to Blake’s great outdoors-inspired big kid room.
The vibrant pops of color right at the entry welcome you in. The vibe is fun, youthful and cozy.
The headboard wall features a shiplap mountain range, complete with LED lights behind the mountains! These LED lights are super cool because Blake’s parents can download an app to change the light frequencies. For this photo shoot, we kept the light white, but it can also change colors to mimic the northern lights.
Here’s a closer look at the detail of the shiplap mountain range. We are in L-O-V-E !
For the bed, we found this adorable camping sheet set from The Land of Nod and paired it with some fun plaid pillows that just feel cabin-y. Then we topped it off with a darling bear pillow, also from The Land of Nod. To balance all the fun “kid” elements in the room, we paired the bedding with these industrial yellow lamps from Schoolhouse Electric. They add such a fun pop!
Diagonal from the bed, we painted a cool color blocked display wall for Blake’s LEGO creations. We love this bright corner of the room. The acrylic box shelves create the perfect spot for Blake to show off his most creative works, but visually they don’t take up a lot of space. He even has room to add more shelves to his collection!
Across from the bed, we created a fun art/LEGO building station for Blake to work on his creations. The upper cabinets were existing in the room, but we had them painted a nice bright white. We then designed a fun waterfall desk that is wide enough for a friend to join in! We love the shelving to display some fun elements in his room, but the closed storage is perfect for when Blake’s parents want to hide the chaos!
The best part about this entire room? Blake and his parents both love it, which is music to our ears! Next up? Designing his playroom. Stay tuned!
