In the Playroom with Green Wedding Shoes

You guys, we’re crushing hard on the colorful playroom that Jen and Jason Campbell of Green Wedding Shoes recently created in their Los Angeles home for their two daughters, Sienna (three and a half) and Dakota (four months). The style, whimsy and fun are off the charts, but we wouldn’t have expected anything less, especially when we found out that they brought in the amazingly talented Emily Henderson to design the space. The color palette is on point, the space planning is genius and the creative touches at every turn literally put the “play” in playroom, and we think you’re going to love it.

Whimsical and Colorful Playroom

How did you start your playroom design? Any particular inspiration?
We worked with Emily Henderson on the design of the playroom. We wanted the room to have space for our daughters to craft and color at a table, a spot to read, storage for lots of games and toys and room on the floor to play with their toys.

Did you have any unexpected obstacles when creating this room? How did you overcome them or spin them to your advantage?
The shape of the room is a bit odd, but we came up with a great way to divide the space into three main areas.

Now that the room is complete, what do you love the most about the finished design?
I love the custom built daybed with all the pillows. It’s the perfect spot to snuggle up as a family and read stories.

What is the one thing that you would tell other parents to consider when they’re planning their playroom?
Target has so many cute pieces for a playroom! I love that they are affordable and kid-friendly but also stylish enough that parents will love them too.
