These Shoes are Made for Playing

Despite my love for footwear, I was never one to put shoes on my kids when they were babies. Don’t get me wrong—I think teeny tiny sneakers, boots and ballet flats are the ultimate in adorable, but I’m all about simplifying my day, and newborn size shoes were on my list of non-essentials. So when my son was learning how to walk a few months ago, I couldn’t wait to pick out his first pair of kicks.

Of course I wanted my little man’s shoes to be stylish, but in my opinion, looks alone don’t cut it when it comes to what you’re wearing on your feet, especially for a teetering toddler. His shoes also had to be comfortable, supportive and made to withstand the adventures of a curious one-year-old. And that’s why a pair of sneakers from KEEN Kids totally fit the bill.

KEEN Kids Shoes

KEEN Kids offers footwear for babies as young as six months old all the way through big kids (and adults too!), and they just launched their brand new Encanto Collection, a line of boots and sneakers that are as functional as they are stylish. My son is the proud new owner of a pair of Encanto Sneakers, and when I say proud, I mean that he grabs his shoes and tries to figure out how to put them on himself at least ten times a day. Who would have thought that shoes would trump cars and trucks when it comes to entertaining a toddler?

I think it’s the vibrant colors that attract my little one to his sneakers, and I appreciate that the design manages to be both kid-friendly and sophisticated at the same time. They feature durable canvas on the outside and padding around the top and in the tongue for comfort. The foam footbed gives the shoe support, and the breathable mesh lining combined with a probiotic treatment called Cleansport NXT™ keeps those stinky foot odors at bay. Tying shoelaces is a no-go for this mama of a wiggly and impatient toddler, so I love the Velcro closure and the bungee laces that ensure a tight fit.

The Encanto Collection also includes Waterproof Boots that will keep you kids’ feet dry thanks to a waterproof membrane and water-resistant materials, along with an adjustable bungee that can be tightened around the leg. And the Encanto Polka is the cutest little sneaker for girls that features the same padding, lining and odor control as the Encanto Sneaker and fun polka dot design and a color palette that your little one will love.

My sons love sneakers. They may run and jump everywhere. They feel comfortable and look great. Our favorite online sneakers store is K-swiss http://www.kswiss.com/kids?cat=44. There is good choice of sneakers for your kids.
