Your World Revolves Around Baby, But, Mama, This One’s For You

One of the best pieces of advice I received when I first became a mom was to take the time to take a shower, get dressed (and I don’t mean just switching from pajama pants to yoga pants) and leave the house every day. I know, I know—it’s easier said than done, especially when you add another little one (or two or even three) to the mix. Now that I have a preschooler and a very busy one-year-old, I’ve taken that wisdom to heart because it really does make a world of difference in my mood, which, of course, directly impacts my kids’ attitudes. Happy mama, happy life, right?

Now I’ll admit that some days I don’t have time for more than a quick lip gloss application in the car, and other days I can’t bear the thought of wearing anything but the aforementioned yoga pants. But on those days I find that I feel instantly more put together with a great diaper bag on my arm, and lately my bag of choice is the gorgeous Rosie Diaper Bag from Lily Jade.

Rosie Diaper Bag from Lily Jade

Lily Jade came to be when founder Meggan Wood’s first daughter was born and her search for a high quality leather diaper bag ended in frustration. Her perfect bag had to be beautiful and hardworking during the baby years, and it had to transition beyond her diapering days. She was never able to find exactly what she was looking for, but we mamas are nothing if not problem solvers, and as so many creative mamas do, Meggan took matters into her own hands. After the birth of her second daughter, she had perfected her design for the ideal diaper bag, and she and her husband formed Lily Jade.

Each bag in the Lily Jade collection is made from leather and premium materials and accented by gorgeous hardware. The Rosie bag comes in either camel or brandy, and it features the most stunning red lining and gold hardware that adds just the right amount of glam to your everyday bag. I’m such a sucker for details, and when I saw the beautiful beaded leather tassel hanging from the handle, it was love at first sight.

I’m all about having options when it comes to carrying my diaper bag—I mean, there’s nothing worse than wrestling with a wiggly baby as your bag slips off your shoulder or losing the feeling in your right arm thanks to an over-stuffed bag full of necessary (and unnecessary) baby gear. Lily Jade understands that one size—or carrying style—doesn’t necessarily fit all, and the Rosie bag can be worn over the shoulder or cross body with the detachable strap—some others in the Lily Jade collection can even be worn as a backpack.

In my opinion, there are two things that make a diaper bag absolutely useless—the first is a bag that lacks organization, and the second happens when your little one is potty trained and a little less needy when you’re out and about, and you’re left with a tote that screams, “I’M A BABY BAG!” Meggan solved both of these problems with something that I like to think of as the best idea ever—it’s called the Baby Bag, and it’s a washable, removable 16-pocket organization insert. I love that I have a designated place for all the odds and ends that are essential during our outings, and I secretly can’t wait for the day when I can remove the Baby Bag and fill my tote with lip gloss instead of diaper cream and my iPad instead of a changing pad (that comes with the diaper bag too, by the way).

The smart design and thoughtful details make these bags both stylish and functional, and like I said before, you’ll carry it for years to come. Plus, Lily Jade has developed a unique e-commerce model that allows them to offer premium leather bags at a lower price point than traditional retail options. A gorgeous bag. An affordable price. A product that will stand the test of time. Need I say more?
