I had a back-to-school dinner to celebrate my girls first day of first grade. I used vintage books to make the decorations, including a banner, garlands and origami flowers. I also stacked vintage books on the table as a centerpiece and mixed vintage china on the table. Hi MomtoTwins:  Simply lovely, though weren’t you worried about the china getting into accidents?  I think this would be a good family tradition to have if only to get the kids excited about going back to school!

I’ve let my girls eat on china since they were teeny tiny. I’ve always figured that they’ll never learn to be careful if they don’t have the chance. Plus, the Blue Willow — my absolute favorite! — was purchased at a grocery store for $1.99 per place setting many years ago. The two sets of vintage china below the Blue Willow plate were purchased at a charity event and a garage sale! Neither are precious so I felt fine letting the kids eat on them.

Thanks so much for your kind words!
