Spiders and pumpkins and bats, OH MY! Fall is upon us, and Halloween will be here before we know it. To get you in the spirit, we’re sharing a few tips for throwing a spooktacular kids Halloween party!
We used the classic Halloween color scheme of orange, yellow and black but mixed it up with modern patterns like polka dots, stripes and chevron. Setting a cute table can be simple with just a few items like spiderweb place mats, spooky plates and napkins and balloons tied to the backs of chairs. Having guests wear their costumes also adds to the Halloween decor!
Halloween is all about the trick-or-treat sweets! Our dessert table was packed with all sorts of yummy goodies, like black cat and pumpkin-shaped sugar cookies, spider cupcakes, caramel apples and ghost pops. We also featured jars of candy so the kids could fill trick-or-treat bags before they left.
The ghost pops can double as a treat and a party activity. Simply insert lollipop sticks into Rice Krispies treats, spread the fronts with frosting, “glue” on ghost-shaped Peeps and then shake Halloween sprinkles onto the remaining visible frosting.
Another fun activity is to have the party guests make glittered pumpkins! It’s a super simple craft, so even the youngest of trick-or-treaters can join in the fun. You’ll need ceramic pumpkins (or real mini pumpkins), paint brushes, glitter and Mod Podge. Simply coat pumpkins with a heavy layer of Mod Podge, sprinkle with glitter and let dry! Pumpkins can also be painted with acrylic or glitter paint. You’ll end up with beautiful, sparkly little pumpkins that the kiddos can take home as a party favor.
Whether you’re in a pumpkin patch or your own backyard, little ghosts and goblins will have fun haunting this sweet, kid-friendly and spooky soirée! Happy Halloween!
