We are very excited to be sharing a new nursery with you from our friends at Anewall. Anewall has some of the most gorgeous wall murals out there (p.s. I used one in my own daughter’s nursery!), so we were eager to see which one Anewall’s owner and new mom Sydney Penner would choose. We weren’t disappointed, and you won’t be either! Thank you, Sydney, for sharing this space with us and the story behind it.
Hi! My name is Sydney Penner, owner of wallpaper company Anewall and mama to sweet baby Harley. I’m so excited to share Harley’s nursery with you. My water broke at 29 weeks on my babymoon in Palm Springs, and she was born premature at 31 weeks. She has come so far since and is the happiest, most smiley baby I know! Her nursery is such a special place for us to spend time after being in the hospital for so long, and I am so excited about how it turned out!
Where did you pull inspiration for your nursery design?
Honestly, at first I was really torn with which direction to take for Harley’s nursery. Originally, I had felt more comfortable going with an all pink and white nursery and was going to use a different wall mural in her room. In the end, I decided to go with the Celeste Mural. It hadn’t been released yet, and it was definitely more of a bohemian style than I would usually go for. The rest of the nursery design was really pulled from this mural. I love the color palette of this piece—the reds, peach and blush pinks all complement each other so well, and it was easy to pick out accent pieces to tie in with the theme of the room.
What part of the design process did you enjoy the most?
The finishing touches are my favorite part of any design process! I loved styling my baskets, picking out little vases for the bookcase and adding all the pampas grass I could find to the room. I also really enjoy adding accent color pieces in the final stages of designing a space and pulling everything together!
What is your favorite part or detail in your nursery?
My favorite detail in the nursery is the table lamp I bought for Harley. I really wanted to splurge on a ceramic piece for the room, and the detailed ceramic base of this lamp is absolutely beautiful. The rich red tassel on the handle is such a unique touch and the colors tie in with the wall mural perfectly. I use this lamp every night when I read to her!
What is one thing that you would tell other parents to consider when starting their own nursery design project?
If designing your nursery feels overwhelming like it did for me, choose one piece for the room that you LOVE. Design the rest of the room around that one piece.

Warning, I’m a lifelong medical baby doctor.
The effects of Pampas grass are widely misreported.
Please be aware, any Pampas grass in a child’s room, from 0-3, must be cleaned with a special treatment, DO NOT PICK WILD grass at any time!
