Great Gear for Keeping Baby Comfy at Outdoor Events this Summer

Summer is filled with outdoor events—fairs, live music, sports games and more. Now some events are just not meant for baby, so call up a sitter when required. But there are other outdoor events that an older baby can happily tag along with some minor modifications. Check out our suggestions for taking baby on-the-go this summer.

Going somewhere with open space? Bring an outdoor playmat or blanket to give baby some time to stretch, roll, play and cool off. You’ll like having a clean spot to sit as well. Here’s our tutorial for a DIY outdoor playmat if you’re crafty.

These days, some venues require you to use a clear bag for anything you bring in. This cute clear backpack will do the job and keep your hands free. With plenty of pockets, you can keep your stuff and baby’s stuff organized, not to mention, easy to find!

Going somewhere that might be loud? Live music and rowdy sports stadiums can be too much for a little babe’s ears. Luckily, protective ear gear comes kiddo size.

Lots of outdoor time goes hand in hand with lots of time in the sun. Keep baby in the shade whenever you can, and use a sun hat with SPF protection. I’ve also been known to carry an umbrella on sunny days for my tiny babies.

If your baby is over six months, be sure to use a kid-friendly sunscreen, too. Younger than six months? Talk to your pediatrician for the best steps for protecting your baby from the sun.

You aren’t going to find much to fit baby’s menu at a fairground or sports stadium, so be sure to pack some portable baby food pouches if your babe is eating solids.

Kiddo can’t handle the pouch himself yet? These spoons attach to most baby food brand pouches and are super convenient for feeding on-the-go.

If you can bring it in, a stroller with a great sun canopy is a must for a day outdoors with your baby. Remember to keep air flow on your baby.

Can’t bring a stroller? A baby carrier will save you. You may find your baby can catch a nap better this way too.

Have fun with your baby this summer! Remember your time at outdoor events may have to be a little shorter with a baby in tow, but you don’t have to miss out on the fun entirely!
