In the Nursery with NYCFitFam

Today we are sharing Jamie Hess’s nursery for new son Asher! You can catch her family over on their site NYCFitFam, but today we are going to soak in all the cuteness of this nursery. The family made the most of the small space to make a happy and cozy spot for their little boy. We love spotting products from The Project Nursery Shop looking super cute in the space! Thank you, Jamie, for sharing with us!

My hubby George and I began sharing our life on social media as @NYCfitfam following our engagement on the treadmills at Barry’s Bootcamp. We share about fitness, nutrition and wellness, along with our adventures in parenting our two little boys, Mason and Asher.

Where did you pull inspiration for your nursery design?
The room used to be our office, and it’s a very small space (but living in NYC, we’re lucky and grateful to have it!). We wanted it to be bright and airy but with some bold pieces and visuals that made a statement. I love how The Project Nursery Shop has things grouped by themes. I found it very inspirational and helpful. I also read the blog for inspiration from other new mamas!

What part of the design process did you enjoy the most?
When I was designing my first son’s nursery four years ago, I was clueless! I like that being a second time mama, you go in with a sense of confidence. I knew what I wanted this time, and I was ready to design!

What is your favorite part or detail in your nursery?
It’s a tie between the crown decals on the wall (and I am impressed with my hubby’s perfectly even application skills!) and the llama head on the wall above the rocker. That llama just makes me smile every time I walk in the room!

I also love that we added in a few faux trees and grasses for a pop of greenery that can be easily dusted and cleaned. It’s special to bring the outdoors inside, especially living in the heart of the urban jungle!

What is one thing that you would tell other parents to consider when starting their own nursery
design project?
We tried to keep everything eco-friendly, and I feel that’s a choice you’ll always feel good about. It helped set the tone when we began picking items.
