Host a Nutcracker Themed Party!

Every December, it’s become an annual tradition for my family to see a performance of The Nutcracker. My kids love it, and I look forward to it every year. We’ve seen different shows and different versions, but it is always magical just the same! Today I’m featuring ideas on how to throw a festive and easy Nutcracker holiday or birthday party for kids!

Host a Nutcracker Themed Party for Kids!

First up—table settings! I found adorable nutcracker plates, and I layered them over red melamine plates and wooden chargers. For the table centerpiece, I used a small potted pine tree in a mason jar and dressed it up with tiny festive ornaments and small wooden nutcracker ornaments. As my “tablecloth,” I covered the table with nutcracker wrapping paper! It’s an inexpensive and gorgeous way to make a tablecloth!

I complemented the place setting with nutcracker glasses, and to make the place cards, I cut out nutcracker shapes out of nutcracker note cards and glued them onto the plain red place cards. This is a very simple trick, but it can dress up any place card easily with your theme, and only takes a few minutes. You could also do this with the food name cards on your buffet table.

Set the table with some nutcracker plates!

I used bright red napkins and the perfect nutcracker napkins rings at each place setting! Aren’t they the perfect accent to the table?

For general party decor, I found that Target has a great selection of Nutcrackers—specifically characters from the Nutcracker Ballet, to my excitement! I found Clara, Lord Drosselmeyer, and the Snow Queen. These would be perfect party decor for your Nutcracker Party!

For party crafts and activities, I found these “Paint your own Nutcracker” kits for the kids and they went crazy for them! I set up another arts and crafts table where all the kids could paint them.

There are several different versions of these paintable nutcrackers—soldiers, elves, Santas, princes, etc. Each child had fun picking out his or her own nutcracker, and they also made the perfect party favors!

Kids will love designing their own nutcrackers!

In keeping with the nutcracker theme, I also found these adorable nutcracker pajamas, which my kids LOVED!  We are planning to wear them the night before seeing our favorite show this year!

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this post about hosting a Nutcracker party for kids, and I hope you’ll be inspired to host a Nutcracker party of your own this holiday season! Happy Holidays!

Have fun planning your own Nutcracker Party!
