Design Reveal: Whitney Port’s Gender Neutral Nursery

We are loving this nursery created for Whitney Port’s little boy Sonny. Whitney worked with Joss & Main to create this gorgeous gender neutral nursery before she knew if she was expecting a boy or girl. The neutral color palette is a lovely backdrop for all the Moroccan accents, and works just perfectly for her new baby boy!

Donna Garlough, style director for Joss & Main tells us a little about the experience of working to design the space. “In the nursery, we went for a gender-neutral palette of white and sand, and brought in touches of black, green and warm terracotta in the rug and pillows.

“Plenty of natural materials like wood, leather, rope and woven seagrass added character and texture. But it didn’t just have to just look good; it also had to be a functional space.

“We brought in a twin-sized linen daybed for cuddling with Sonny during the long nights, a sleek changing table to coordinate with the modern crib, and a crisp modern glider and ottoman for rocking him to sleep.”

New mom Whitney shared a little bit more about her dreams for the space, “Since we didn’t find out the sex of our baby, we wanted the room to be very gender neutral without being too boring. I wanted the nursery to match the master [bedroom] in vibe—Moroccan accents, light wood finishes, neutral colors but also have a sort of whimsical, fairytale aspect to it.

“That’s where the wallpaper came in! It was a last minute addition and I absolutely love it! It’s such a pretty print, in the right color without being too gender specific.”

Whitney also shared her nursery must-haves. “There were five things that were huge priorities to me, some more obvious than others! A crib, dresser that acted as a changing table, soft rug, glider and day bed. We use the glider to feed him and calm him, and the day bed is perfect for when we want to lie down in there and just stare at him or take a little snooze while he sleeps.”

I believe pretty much everything was from Joss & Main. Unfortunately, the link that used to show the items in her nursery is no longer working over at Joss & Main. The rug might be still there if you search for it.
