The Rio Collection Offers a Cool Contrast in Its Modern Finishing

I’m currently knee-deep in furniture selection for my baby’s nursery, and the Rio Collection from Tulip is hitting one of my favorite furniture trends of the moment—mixing wood tones with a modern contrasting finish. In Rio’s case, it’s a rich walnut wood—which is super luxe, by the way—with a contrasting glossy facade. While the pieces are modern, the wood tone still adds a warmth to baby’s nursery.

The glossy facades come in blue, black, gray or, my favorite, white, and the convertible crib also features an ultra-modern clear plexiglass on the top back panel for added interest.

Since it’s coming from Tulip, you can count on the fact that this furniture is made to last, either for subsequent babies or right through your kiddo’s childhood. The convertible crib option can be converted into a daybed, double or single bed, so you can continue to use the same design you so lovingly created for your nursery and just add new details and updated decor for your growing child’s changing interests. There’s no reason for a complete redo when you invest in quality furniture from the start. The furniture even features a high-resistance finish, which keeps those pesky scratches at bay.

Finish out your modern nursery with pieces like the gorgeous Nova Rocker, also available from Tulip, which features the same two-tone look with a wooden rocker available in white or walnut finishes and four fabric options—charcoal or white leather, and gray or taupe linen.

Adding a changer to the top of a dresser is a great way to maximize the length of time you can use a piece. You can opt for a traditional coordinating wood changing tray as seen in the picture above or the super sleek Matty foam changer (featured below), which pops right on top. Either option allows you to add a changer without disturbing the clean-lined, modern look you achieved with the Rio Collection. And when your baby’s diaper days are over, you simply remove the changer so you can continue to use the dresser.
