With the holidays right around the corner, I try to be mindful of teaching my children what we are really celebrating. Holidays are not just about food, gifts and indulging—they’re about family, spending time together and being grateful for all we have. So this year I plan to have each child make a Thanksgiving keepsake.
I’ve created a free printable Thanksgiving coloring page, and I plan to set the table with one copy for each child to draw a picture of what he or she is thankful for. I’m sure there will be a big array of drawings from sweet to humorous as the littlest family members reflect on their blessings, and I can’t wait to see what we get!
Some of my favorite framed art pieces in our home are drawings the kids have made. From family portraits to holiday projects, our walls feature our favorite pieces of their art. I hope that creating these drawings becomes a Thanksgiving family tradition we look forward to year after year, and I can’t wait to see pictures of what the kids are thankful for on display. I’m sure what they are thankful for will change as they grow, but hopefully the act of taking time to be grateful will remain.

I hope your little ones come up with some great drawings for their Thanksgiving coloring page, and I’m wishing you all a happy Thanksgiving!
