Celebrity Design Reveal: Jenn Brown and Wes Chatham’s Nursery

When our friends at Oilo gave us a chance to take a peek inside Jenn Brown and Wes Chatham’s nursery for their son, we jumped at the chance. The modern nursery with rustic charm is filled with darling details. The busy couple worked with designers Annalisa Thomas and Dorte Anderson, and we chatted with Annalisa about the design process. She shares Jenn and Wes’s wishes for their baby boy Nash’s nursery and some of the obstacles they encountered in the design.

“Jenn wanted a rustic chic look for her nursery. The wallpaper was actually the first item we chose. It’s beautiful and has the ability to be used in many design styles. Because she wanted a more rustic look we added stained brown furniture with gold accents from Newport Cottages, which matched the wallpaper perfectly. Adding the linen from the crib set onto the side panels of the crib and using it on the Oilo glider tied all the big pieces together perfectly. The final pieces we added were the rug, pouf and accent pieces.”

“I was very concerned about finding a tree and small filler décor. We flew into California a couple days before the shoot but still needed a few accessories. Luckily, she had West Elm and CB2 real close, so we were able to walk in and out with all we needed in just a few hours. That’s where the pot, pouf, picture frames and accessories for the wood triangles are from.”

“Design can be a little tricky because it may work on paper, but sometimes when you actually walk in the room you can tell it just doesn’t feel right. This was the case with Jenn’s nursery. The bookcase fit, but it felt too tight in the room. Jenn’s office/playroom is adjacent to the nursery, so we pulled the bookcase in there, and it worked perfectly for her office needs and little Nash’s toys. I love when rooms flow too, so it definitely helped in that regard as well.”

“I love so many pieces in this room, so picking my favorite is tough, but I do love the wood triangles and picture frames with her personal photos on the wall. It added the rustic look, but they still look so chic.”
