Welcome to our series spotlighting our Featured Vendors from our Vendor Guide. The guide includes carefully curated vendors from the baby and children’s industry in design, retail, special services and much more.
Today we want to introduce you to Tushies and Tantrums, a nursery bedding company based out of Nashville. Ashley has an amazing eye for on-trend patterns and a knack for mixing prints to create the perfect bedding set for a trendy tot. We hope that you enjoy getting to know her and her business as much as we did.
What about Tushies and Tantrums makes you most proud?
I am most proud of how far we’ve come so quickly. We’ve barely been in business three years and have met or surpassed every goal we’ve set for ourselves. We started as a tiny operation out of a spare bedroom with one seamstress (me) to a lovely shop in Nashville, TN with multiple seamstresses, financial advisors, an accountant and a manufacturer that we use for our large wholesale orders.
What can we expect from you this year?
You can expect to see drastically shorter lead times on custom orders, an inventory of items that we’ve designed with our market in mind, an expanded product line and a presence in retail locations beginning in Nashville and expanding out.
What advice do you have for parents when curating their nursery?
When planning your nursery, try to have an overall vision for the feel that you are going for. Do you want bright and fun? Tranquil and relaxing? Determine the look you are going for and maybe pick out an accessory or two that you feel fit your theme to start. If you choose to work with a company like us who will work with you to design something especially for you, communicate your objectives to the person you are working with. Pick fabrics that correspond with your vision, and don’t be afraid to ask for help! We have a huge knowledge base of fabrics, prints and patterns, and chances are we can help you pinpoint exactly what you want.
Where do you find your inspiration?
My clients are a huge part of my inspiration. I have a curated style that is very easy to identify and all my own, but that doesn’t appeal to everyone out there. Working with moms and learning their style, their preferences and their vision is very stretching and inspiring. It helps me reach many different people because I’m not stuck with only my style to offer but am able to use the visions of the people I am privileged to work with.
Any advice you wish someone had given to you?
I have advice I wish I would have taken sooner! When I first started, my business partner (who happens to be my husband) would bug me to death to hire seamstresses and bookkeepers and people to help. I tried to do EVERYTHING all by myself for too long, and I wish I would have released control sooner than I did. We would have grown bigger a lot sooner!

I looked for the second one, as well. It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for. However, It’s not on your website.
