The Best Picnic Blankets

I love picnics! There’s nothing better than sitting in the sun, looking up at the blue sky and enjoying scrumptious summer foods and drinks. But what isn’t pleasant is standing up from a picnic blanket and having wet shorts because of dew, sprinklers or the remains of a summer thunderstorm. That’s why I keep a waterproof picnic blanket in my trunk at all times—you never know when you’ll need one, and today I’m sharing a few that I love.

My personal favorite is the JJ Cole Essentials Blanket—not only are the patterns modern and appealing, but it’s also really easy to carry, fold and store. And most importantly, it protects against water seeping through, so you stand up nice and dry.

Skip Hop is known for modern, innovative products for urban parents, and the Central Park Outdoor Blanket + Cooler Bag is no different. It’s generously sized and waterproof, and it comes in a chic gray chevron pattern. It also features a detachable insulated cooler bag that’s perfect for storing drinks and other treats.

There is even a picnic blanket that’s so compact that you can carry it everywhere in your diaper bag. You may have seen the Monkey Mat on Shark Tank, but if you’re hearing about it for the first time, it was designed by moms looking for a portable, sanitary surface for their kids to play on. It’s made for both indoor and outdoor use, and it’s just the thing you need if you and the kids are in the airport waiting for a flight or cooped up in a hotel room. The Monkey Mat is also perfect for picnics at the beach or at your neighborhood playground.

Now what are you doing inside reading this? Get out of the house and spend some time in the great outdoors with your family! Get a watermelon and a Frisbee, have a picnic and make some memories.
