Our favorite floor covering solution for the nursery and home may now have a store near you! FLOR locations are popping up fast all over the country, and with about a gazillion options, they have made it even easier for customers to see, touch and feel their styles. The San Francisco outpost celebrated its opening a few weeks ago with an evening store opening party, and PN was on the scene.
The store was buzzing with energy as local designers, customers, media and the team from FLOR’s headquarters in Chicago mingled and celebrated their second west coast location. It was terrific to meet the launch team in person and hear about their very busy schedule with back-to-back store openings. With eight stores nationwide and four more (pay attention Georgetown, Boston and West Hollywood) opening in the next few months, FLOR is really growing. Smilebooth was also on hand to capture everyone’s pose with a little added FLOR flair.
The cool industrial space was stocked with the newest styles like the Mod Zebra, Mod Cow and Hey Jack. We love FLOR for the nursery, big kids’ bedrooms and playrooms because of its versatility, easy installation and low VOC.
Melisa and I both have FLOR in our homes, and when we like something, we aren’t shy about letting you know. In fact, Melisa just laid down her FLOR tiles this weekend for the start of her “pink playroom” makeover. Yes, she is a mom of boys, but this is also her office. I say go for it! I have always been a big fan of floor tiles — especially with kids! If one gets messed up (chewed by the dog or ruined by ink from a pen that found itself in babies hand) you just replace the one tile without having to have the whole room re carpeted. I really love the variety of colors. It is hard to find purple carpet and yet FLOR seems to have 18 different choices of purple carpet. Seriously thinking about getting some of the Iris and some of the light blue to make a stripped carpet in my baby’s nursery! .

We’re adopting our first child, so I’m having fun decorating a nursery while we wait on “the call.” It’s kind of a retro 40’s, gender neutral “Up” theme, so I’d love to add some FLOR tiles to brighten it up! I think I’d either go with the “Modern Mix” style with browns, or maybe “Toy Poodle” with some muted greens, blues, and browns.
