What human doesn’t enjoy lounging in a hammock? Just last weekend my husband and I loaded the whole family in a friend’s hammock and the kids loved it so much it became an obsession for the rest of the day. I’ve never given much thought to the history of the hammock but it actually was developed in Latin America over 800 years ago where it was used as the primary sleep apparatus. The hammock was also used for infants to soothe and rock to sleep. Currently there are a few infant hammock sleep systems on the market but by far the sleekest to join the bunch is the Hushamok. Beautifully designed with a curved aluminum or wood frame, this hammock doesn’t come cheap. At just over 400 dollars the Hushamok is an investment but most parents with a sleep challenged baby will shell out just about any amount of money to get a few more hours of rest. The Hushamok was developed for newborns up to 6 months or 22 pounds. The womb-like design of the hammock gently cradles baby while providing a comfortable, safe and soothing environment. Made from high quality pre-shrunk machine washable 100% cotton that is double-lined and back stitched. With such a stunningly modern design this hammock doesn’t have to be stuck out back between the trees. What do you think of the Hushamok? We’d love to know….
