Design Reveal: Simply Found

A drive by a garage sale, a surf on e-bay, a trip to Ikea and voila: A design savvy toddler room with style and spunk! Mom Kirsten Grove of Simply Grove shows us how she pulled together a whimsical room for her daughter with a little effort, some family assistance and lots of love!

Child’s name: Eden Jo
Age: 3
Location: Boise, ID

What was your inspiration for the room?
Eden Jo’s personality was my inspiration. She is so fun and quirky. She loves color and patterns. She is very artistic for a 3yr old so I needed her room to be fun and whimsical.

What best describes your decorating style?
I am drawn to vintage chic with bohemian and modern twists.

Please share with us your choice of paint colors, furniture, art, diy tips, etc.
The walls are a neutral gray and I wanted to brighten them up with art so I had my dad paint a quote on the main wall that I had found off of a greeting card. I thought the quote really fit her personality. I bought the armoire at pier one years ago and decided to paint the doors a jet black to give it some contrast. Her bedding is a mix of Ikea and handmade pillows. I bought the venetian mirror off of Ebay for around $90.
Most of the art in her room is Etsy with exception of an Urban Outfitters print and a mommy made when she was bored print.

What is your favorite item(s) in the room?
I bought the headboard at a garage sale for $15 and it has become my favorite piece in the room. I also love her giant horse which was a gift from a favorite babysitter.

Is there anything else you would like PN readers to know?
The fun thing about a child’s room is you cant really mess up. The more textiles and textures the better! The more art and vintage toys the better. Be creative and let your kids help you and who knows what you will come up with.

Love the statement on the wall. The words are perfect and the style of writing with the two color choice, it’s simply wonderful.

Would love to do this in my daighter’s room :)

I am in awe! Everything about the painted quote is just perfect, and (even as a bargain queen myself) I can’t believe you sourced everything so inexpensively. What a lovely place for a girl to grow up. Well done!!!

This room reminds me of something that you would see in a cute European children’s magazine. I love the venetian mirror and all of the art. And I love that it was all done on a budget! Lucky little girl.

Hey, pretty interesting! JFYI I am a huge fan of everything vintage. I invite you to check more on Munecos de Heman http://williamhovanes.tripod.com/juguetesantiguos336/, which is my current area of collecting. I specially love vintage toys, but I do collect any antiques. If you find something LMK, I buy stuff all the time. Keep up the good work!
