Swan Nursery

This is actually my baby girl’s second nursery with in her first year of life. At the young age of just 6 months old we relocated for my husband’s job. Her first nursery was bright, cheerful, and fun! This time I wanted to go the complete opposite with a soft and dreamy space and a few chic and sophisticated touches. A few months ago as I was scrolling through The Land of Nod pages, this gorgeous riding toy swan stopped me dead in my tracks. I fell head over heels and ordered it immediately (without even having the house yet!). I used lots of white, ivory, and flowing fabrics to create the soft dreamy feel. The chaise lounge was actually a great bargain and adds that touch of sophisticated elegance. I used abstract art, watercolor prints, and typography sleek frames for a chic element. I added the silk florals to dress up a simple mirror. The beautiful crib is a true vintage Jenny Lind that I painted in Behr’s Castilian Pink. This room was fun to dream up and see come to fruition. I hope you enjoy!

Sweet Dreams, Baby Patrick

The Ralph Lauren Seagrass wallpaper and sage green walls really set the scene for my sophisticated safari nursery.  I had lots of fun incorporating all the animals in different ways: A Rhino puzzle, life-sized baby giraffe, zebra rocking horse, elephant mobile, monkey jack-in-the-box, animal books and paintings of course. The green shaggy rug resembles the African plains and the white porcelin elephant hooks with the binoculars and vintage safari hat add detail to the theme. The linen chair, mercury glass lamp and Johnathan Adler Morocan pouf to be used as an ottoman were items I already had, but thought they went perfect in the room!  I was super excited about my antiqued pine dresser, matching nightstand and whip-stiched burlap drum pendant that hangs from a thick rope… very “Indiana Jones-ish”. The custom bedding with blue and grey Chevron contrast a swirly masculine paisley with pops of aqua, gray and white. And no nursery these days is complete without some bunting. Pulled all the colors used in the room and had one custom made for the wall.

Sallie Rose’s Chic and Colorful Room

Sallie Rose recently had a little sister; therefore, she got to upgrade to a “big girl” room so her sister, Lulie, could have the nursery. We tried to create a room that could grow with her for a few years. We chose a very light grey/silver color for the walls and we added a pop of color with the bed frame, night stand, chandelier and bedding. All of thsee items can be easily interchangeable as her opinion for her own room changes. Our budget was very small considering we had a new baby on the way, so we found objects in our house to reuse or we bought things on sale and at antique stores.
