Shark Attack Shared Boys Room

The perfect room for two boys looking to get creative and have fun escaping sharks and using their imaginations. I created this room with a nautical surf vibe for two sweet boys. I wanted to make it exciting but also be a place that they can grow into for many years to come. The existing furniture was complimented with a custom wall mural, a grow with me modern desk, shark bedding and a gallery wall. I absolutely love this one and so do my sweet clients!

Hugh & Charles Shared Room

My little boys, Hugh & Charles, bedroom has seen a few makeovers but the latest one managed to snare a place in the Australian House & Garden magazine Top 50 rooms of 2015!
I wanted the space to be versatile for the boys, modern but not over the top monochrome (been there, done that!).  I used texture rather than lots of colour and incorporated their interests to make sure they loved the space.
We love books, so using the Ikea ribba ledges as book ledges were perfect for us.
This room design could easily transition from little boy to teen…..although it won’t because me, being me, I’ll change it up as often as I can!

Beachy and Whimsical Surfboy Bedroom

I designed and decorated this room for my own “big boy” when I was pregnant with my second, and was looking for something that two little California beach boys could grow into and ultimately share.  I was very inspired by a photo of the bedding in the Serena and Lily catalog but put my own spin on it with black furniture, a rather random collection of surfer and beach art and photography, and a hand-painted surfboard.  The walls are bold green and there is an occasional hint of orange in the room.  Photos by Jackie Culmer Photography.

Toddler & Newborn Shared Room

This project started off as a room for our first daughter and it easily evolved into a room she’ll share with her newborn sister. A queen size bed was replaced by two twin beds. Our oldest now sleeps in the toddler bed, the little one has the crib. Eventually, the crib will be replaced by the dresser/changing station, thus opening room in the closet for both of the girls to store clothes and toys. For now, the room is functional, practical, and lively, a place they are comfortable in and can grow into.

Twins- Edward and Ivy’s Aqua Gray and Lime Nursery

This aqua and gray striped nursery with white furniture and vintage daybed is all set up for twins. Colorful throw pillows and bedding in turquoise, lime, white, and a little  pink (for Ivy), some original artwork, a mini-chandelier, and nature inspired mobile bring this nursery to life. This turned into a group project where different members of our family were able to use their special talents whether it was carpentry, painting, sewing , or art and design.
