Soft Pink, Gold and Ivory Shabby Chic Nursery

When we found out we were having a girl (we have a 9 year old son), I immediately wanted to go with soft pinks, golds, and ivory/creams for the her room. Which is crazy because I always said if I every have a girl I will never go with pink! And several months before I found out I was pregnant, I started liking pink. That should have been an indicator right then, but I was clueIess..LOL!  I was going to go with a princess type theme, but then changed my mind after searching Pinterest for different ideas. At first, the room was going to be more centered around the crown teester, but then I wanted more of a shabby chic and sophisticated nursery. Soft pinks with different shades of gold and ivory/creams throughout the room. I made her crib bedding (with the exception of the crib rail guard), flower curtain tie backs, personalized pillows(on the chaise), changing pad cover, and double sided door stopper. My brother painted my son’s old crib in a metallic gold/champagne. Also, I made a liner for the bassinet/stroller piece that will be her hamper and then could be used for dolls or whatever she would like! We removed the closet door and I went with the curtains instead. So happy with the way her room turned out!!!

Shabby Chic Baby Girl Nursery

This was our last baby and because of that we decided we wanted the surprise of a lifetime so we held off on finding out the sex until the birth. Mia was born on April 19th, 2017 and because we waited to find out if we were having a girl or a boy I held off on doing and nursery. Boy am I glad I did! My mother and I worked so hard and poured so much love into every detail of Mia’s shabby chic nursery. I painted and distressed our first babes old crib and dresser, hand crafted the paper flowers on the signs myself and much of the decor (i.e. the green glass and the shutters) was actually used in my wedding so this room is special in so many ways. This room is so calm and relaxing! I couldn’t have dreamed up a more perfect space for my baby girl.

Shabby Chic Farmhouse Inspired Nursery

My husband and I are soon expecting our first child in August. Two years ago, we purchased our first home – a traditional, yet cozy cape cod nestled in western Pennsylvania. What started as just a house, was turned into a home after several months of hardcore renovations. Our primary focus was on the main floor – the kitchen, living room, dining room and the master bedroom. We figured we would tackle the two bedrooms and bathroom located on the second floor when the time came to expand our family.
Well – that time has come. We decided on which room would be the nursery and my lumberjack husband went to work on turning it into a canvas for a shabby chic farmhouse nursery. While turning such a small room (with vaulted ceilings, mind you) into an open, airy nursery sounded like quite the challenge…we happily accepted. As history has played out with past projects, he builds the things and I decorate them.
Like I mentioned, because of the vaulted ceilings and traditional features of our cape cod, I wanted this smaller space to come alive by incorporating an abundance of light, airy colors. The decorating was on hold though until the crib was built – cue my lumberjack husband. With is amazing woodworking skills, he crafted our little girls crib using poplar wood that he painted white – as opposed to leaving it natural and staining it.
I decided on a shabby-chic, vintage-floral theme with soft pinks, off-whites and the occasional pop of gold and mint. Easy enough, right?
Here is the [almost] end product! We’re still working on some finishing touches, but thought I’d share to offer some inspiration for others!

Arlie’s Whimsical and Shabby Chic Nursery

I am a mother of two boys and I am finally having my girl! As soon as I found out I started planning. I knew I wanted something whimsical and shabby chic. I found items here and there and slowly started to create this vision in my head. I found the wall paper online and I loved it! That was the biggest purchase for the room. The changing table was actually a DIY. I scored an old door for $25 bucks, tested it for lead, chipped off the big chunks of peeling paint then made a white wash and painted one coat of my whitewash over it. I then took all my measurements and drew up my design. My husband, boys and I took a quick trip to Home Depot and purchased the wood we would need to create the table and shelf. We brought it all home in my mini van??. Hubby cut everything I drew up I sanded and stained it then he put it all together! The fact that I started and completed this project all while 9 months Preggo is a pretty awesome accomplishment! And not to mention, I LOVE the way it turned out!! A lot of the decor in the nursery I made as well. The mirror hanging on the whitewashed boards, the stained wood deer head, the head band holders on the dresser,  the bed skirt and the mobile all handmade by me! Her crib bedding was the one other pricey item in her room. I figured we already had the furniture why not splurge and get what I really want!! I got it from this amazing little company called rockin rollick. Check out her website when you get the chance. Amazing products and the best quality! Most of my other purchases were made at target, hobby lobby or thrifty boutiques.

The Posh Home Baby Girl Nursery Reveal

I was so excited when I found out I was having a girl and was thrilled to put together her nursery.  It was the one room in the house I could make feminine and girly and not drive my husband too crazy.  As a design student and lifestyle and interior design blogger I love to make spaces beautiful and functional.  Since we were having a girl I wanted to design a shabby chic, dreamy, and peaceful nursery.  When we moved into our home I was 7 months pregnant and had little time to piece the space together so it has been a work in progress.  I started shopping at vintage markets and found her dresser/changing table.  The dresser was a mess when we bought it but I had a vision of refinishing it a peach/pink blush color and loved the way it came together.  I found the crib from Restoration Hardware Baby & Child it gave me the vintage feel I was going for.  One of my favorite art pieces I purchased from Made By Girl and refinished the frame I placed it in.  I fell in love with Hygge & West’s Daydream wallpaper and knew I had to have that as a feature in her nursery.  I started piecing together items that I loved and completed her nursery after her first birthday!  I guess you could say I had a lot going on with becoming a new Mom and a move.  This room is one of my favorites and I love spending time in there.

Coral and Aqua Baby Girl’s Nursery!

I knew I wanted a coral/aqua/gold or coral/mint/gold nursery with a shabby chic/whimsical feel! I also knew I wanted to mix and match pieces… so walking into Babies R Us and picking an entire nursery collection was not for me. I found the 3-tier crib skirt first which was perfect because it was 3 different fabrics which fit right into my mix and match plan! Ironically only 2 tiers show with how the crib frame is, but that’s okay! My mom and I then built the nursery around that crib skirt!
It was a lot of fun just browsing stores and online shops looking for the perfect pieces for Baby Girl’s Nursery! It was a lot of trial and error… buying and returning… to make sure all the colors matched but the end product turned out better than I could have imagined so it was all worth it!

Vintage Inspired, Shabby Chic Nursery

This is my youngest daughter’s bedroom.  I have painted, embellished, and repurposed almost everything in it.  My mom handmade the beautiful pillows.  I decided to separate my girls so they could each have their own space.  I wanted to create a space that my daughter would not outgrow for a long time.  As she gets older, her bed will convert and the baby touches can be removed.  It’s a room that she can grow with.
