All Dots for Audri

I sought out to create a monochrome nursery, complete with black/white patterns to stimulate our Audri Grace! I quickly learned that my ideas for using black, would overpower the aesthetic. With hues of gray, lilac, white and a hint of gold, coupled with a bold pattern – “All Dots!” – I was able to create my vision for a stimulating, yet calming space. Each piece of decor was identified with the hopes that baby would, one day, enjoy discovering it’s placement in her room.

Abigail’s Polka Dot Christening

I planned this party for my niece Abigail.  Her mother chose purple for her nursery and I decided to use the color and mix in pink so that I could use some of the decorations in her nursery as well.
Everything from the centerpieces, banners, tags and signs was made by myself.
I found the idea for the centerpieces, both adult and children’s, on Pinterest.  I especially loved the frames because they were a keepsakes for her parents.
My favorite was the cookie buffet, I’ve done a candy buffet in the past but wanted to try something a little different.  It was a huge hit!

Nautical 1st Birthday

Our baby turned 1 on June 25th and I, of course, went all out for the celebration!  My husband and I already owned a collection of red partyware so I decided that red had to be incorporated into his party. The whale inspiration came from a Pottery Barn Kids bedding collection that we almost selected for his nursery.  The stripe, gingham and polka dot patterns were inspired by a pennant bunting I saw on Etsy and many of the other details were inspired by ideas I found while poking around Pinterest!  {photo credit – Simply Mella Photography}

The “Baby Closet”

If I were to Google “small baby nursery”, maybe a 10×12 room will show up. Homeowners, designers and parents will then describe how they struggled to make it work. Whatever. Sometimes new moms and dads just don’t have the space…like a room with a closet, a room with a window or a whole other room for that matter. I know from experience and this is why the baby closet from Small Space, Big Style is so very endearing.
