Girly Pink and Blue Play Room
I added pinks and blues that matched her toys to coordinate everything together.

A modern, colorful bedroom for a big boy bed, plenty of toys and books, and room to grow.
We bought a new home and this room went from the green room to the neutral play room.
I wanted to create a space for Jaxon to play and let his imagination run wild. {Secretly I wanted my living room back too..} We’re expecting our 2nd son this November so this will be a room that they both can play in. I love how it turned out and that I was able to mix and match the patterns and colors throughout many different things to tie the whole room together.
I had a lot of fun transitioning our old nursery into a playroom for my two girls. I love color and what better place to have fun with it than in a playroom?! The room incorporates a mix of new, vintage, and DIY design elements. I love having a special space in our condo for our girls to be creative and play together.
You can get all the details of the room and the different DIY projects within it here on my blog Design Improvised.
For our son’s room, we wanted something more than just a nursery. The room is rather large, so we made it more of a child’s room with a play area that he could grow up in, not immediately grow out of.
Three year old Avery was diagnosed with an inoperable cancerous brain tumor at age two. Her wish through Make a Wish Foundation was to receive a Fairy Garden Playroom for her sister, Maddy and herself. Avery has gone through so very much in her young life and is such a strong, brave little girl. When Make a Wish coordinator, Jenny Hauser contacted me to design this very special girl’s playroom for Avery, we jumped on it. My assistant, Lisa O’Brien and I worked for months meticulously planning the space which included a life-like tree, a custom designed reading nook that we now refer to as the “Fairy Fountain”, a dress up corner, play house, tea table complete with tea set, an art station (not seen in the images, as it was back ordered) and a spot for movie viewing. We solicited the hugely talented Patrice Hoban to paint our fairy mural and she really knocked our socks off with the details! She added glitter and gems and the room really came to life with her vision! We thank Cheryl of Sweet Lullaby for designing and donating the sweet curtains and valances, Chris Jones for designing the Fairy Fountain reading perch, Levels of Discovery for their donation of the tea table and toybox, New Arrivals, Inc for donating the peg hook, and Creative Carpet Design for donating the cute-as -a-button monogrammed rug. Avery and her family have a long road ahead of them. They will continue treatments at St. Jude Children’s Hospital (to whom Jack and Jill Interiors has donated monthly for about 7 years now) and we will continue to love and pray for this wonderful and inspiring family. Please consider donating to St. Jude. Thank you!
