Emily’s Nursery

I am so so excited to share my sweet baby’s nursery with you guys! Fun fact – I knew I wanted this color blue (Upward by Sherwin Williams) in this nursery before I even knew the gender of my baby. So I was going to make it happen either way. I really wanted picture frame molding also but worried that it would be too feminine for a little boy. So let’s just say I’m super happy that we are having another little girl! And I love this blue mixed with the pale pops of pink! It’s exactly what I wanted and I’m so in love with every single detail.
I’ve worked with Mod Wood Co on several projects in the past for clients so when it was time for a project of my own, I knew I HAD to work with them again. I sent an inspiration image of what I was sorta thinking for over the crib and she knocked this custom name sign out and had it at my front door within days! I seriously can’t say enough about their company. They are the best! I’m so in love with the freestanding cut out of her name above the crib. And for the wreath, I simply just attached lambs ear garland around a macrame embroidery hoop.
I’m a firm believer in not skimping on your closets. They should be just as much a part of the room as anything else. And it’s another opportunity to have fun with design. This closet was certainly no different. I used this gorgeous floral wallpaper from Livette’s Wallpaper and it was everything I wanted and more! Their peel and stick wallpaper is super easy to use and they can customize the color to whatever you need. They’ll even match colors from brands like Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore. I went with a simple navy here just to make it pop against the lighter blue walls. I LOVE it!
I’m kind of shocked by the amount of people that are so interested in our mini door. Honestly, I wanted to kind of make it disappear so that’s where the idea of picture frame molding came from. I felt it would stick out too much if we were to keep the door white. So painting the trim, doors, and walls all the same color helped it blend in and not stick out. But soooo many people want to know all about this “magical door”. I wish I had a more exciting story but it’s just the entrance to our attic. And don’t worry, we put a lock on it so you can’t get in without a key. AND I made sure to have my husband put the deadbolt lock on the inside just in case little girls try to lock each other inside down the road one day 🙂
This nursery is so special to us and we can’t wait to meet our baby girl very soon! We hope you enjoyed this room tour!

Sweet Pastel Nursery

I decided the first thing I needed to do was come up with a color palette. I settled on grey, navy pinks, whites, sage, and lavender. I knew I wanted the room to feel feminine, colorful, and light. I commissioned an abstract painting from my favorite artist: http://kellikroneberger.com. After that things started to come together. My husband actually picked out the brass crib which I love! I also knew that I wanted a chandelier in the bedroom but since my husband is tall and the ceiling are not very high, I had to find something that was flush mount which was a challenge. The one we found if just perfect and was worth the search. The dressers are from my favorite antique shop. The unicorn rocker is also one of my other favorite accents. It adds a touch of fun to the room.

Oh Joy Inspired Nursery

My oldest daughter’s room is very neutral, with lots of white, beige and gold accents (photos below) – colors I naturally gravitate toward when decorating. When deciding on a theme and color scheme for our second daughter’s nursery, I knew a few things – I wanted to do something bright, in contrast of Isla’s neutral space, and I did not want to have a typical nursery nursery. I was wandering through Target a few months ago and I saw a brightly color Oh Joy pillow and knew immediately I’d found the inspiration for the room. I loved the pairing of the bright yellow, turquoise, blush pink and neon coral and thought I could have some fun designing a room around those colors.

Afton’s Tiny Pastel Nursery

It was a lot of work to figure out how to use the TINY space we have for a nursery!
The glider was one of the hardest purchase decisions. It needed to be small enough for this tiny room, short enough for my really short legs, the right color, and of course, comfortable! After quite a bit of shopping, we actually found the perfect one at Babies R Us, and I already love sitting in it.
The little table was a lucky Tuesday Morning find. At first I wasn’t crazy about the elephants, but they have really grown on me, and I love that there’s extra storage in the baskets. The blue lamp is old–we just freshened it up with a new shade from Target. (The curtains are from Target, too.)
I always knew one of the focal points of the room would be a quilt made by my extremely talented mother-in-law, and she definitely came through! Isn’t it pretty? And it’s super soft, too.
There was much debate about the crib, but we ended up with the Davinci Kalani. I love it, and it will grow with her for years to come, so it’s a good value, too. As was the $15 floor lamp from Lowe’s.
Of course I have been browsing baby stuff on Etsy for months now, and there are so many adorable things! I’ve tried not to go too crazy, but I have made a few purchases, and by far my favorite is this hot air balloon mobile from youngheartslove. The colors really tie the room together, and it reminds me of the hot air balloon stories that my dad used to tell me when I was a little girl. :)
Also above the crib is a personalized name print made from Walter Anderson’s alphabet block prints. The Realizations folks did a great job with this custom work, and I love that Afton will have some local Gulf Coast culture in her room. :)
The biggest nursery project by far was this dresser. It’s an old hand-me-down that used to be stained a dark finish with intricate brass drawer pulls. Alex worked hard re-painting it and changing the drawer holes so that we could update it with these cute turquoise knobs (also from Lowe’s.) My mom gave us the perfect topper to make the dresser into a changing table, and the little compartment has just enough room for the wipe warmer that our friends insist we need. ;) There’s exactly enough space left on the dresser for the noise machine and diaper tote (both gifts from friends from our registries.)
Above the dresser are four of my own photo prints! I had a hard time choosing just the right combination, but I think these four complement each other perfectly. They’re now available as a set in my Etsy shop!
I plan on raising a bibliophile, so I was a bit distraught at the idea that there wasn’t much room for bookshelves in this room, but these shallow wall shelves from Ikea solve the problem for now. Afton already has more books than will fit here, so the others will be stored in the closet, but it’s fun to have these on display (along with a few of our maternity photos.) I can’t wait to start reading to her!
From books and toys to sheets and clothes, this nursery (not to mention the rest of the house) is so full of gifts from friends and family! This little girl is so loved already.

Neutral Pastel Nursery

I met with my client in her brand new home in Los Feliz, California, and I was delighted by the space she showed me. Full of natural light, original molding and wood floors, this room was ready to be transformed into a pretty pastel nursery for her baby girl. With shopping favorites like Anthropologie and West Elm, this client is pretty much a dream! We decided on neutral walls to keep the space light and bright, and then we layered in shades of white and ivory with lots of texture and some pops of mint green and pale pink.
