Baby Girl Ocean Nursery

We LOVE the ocean and knew we wanted to do some kind of nautical nursery, regardless of our baby’s gender. When we found out we were having a girl, we were surprised at how hard it was to find gender neutral or girl items to decorate with. We chose pink and turquoise to anchor (pun intended) the space with little nods to the sea like the paddle, anchor hooks, rope mirror, woven pouf, and clothing dividers. We also swapped out the hardware on the change table to boat cleats and choose the Nook mattress in Glass color both for safety and because the “pebbles” look like bubbles.
We love the result – just enough of a theme to pull the room together but not too much that things look out of place if they aren’t ocean themed. Our girl Tia loves it!

Boho + Farmhouse Baby Nursery

When decorating my children’s spaces, I always look for ways to incorporate the modern farmhouse style of the rest of our home with the whimsy of a child’s space. For this nursery, I knew I wanted to give a vintage feel to the space, so we installed a shiplap wall (which is found in other parts of our home), but in the nursery we installed it vertically. I felt like this gave the space a retro look to correlate with the other rattan and vintage inspired pieces in her room. I love soft and warm neutrals so I knew I wanted to start with a simple white canvas and add subtle colors in small areas of the room.
I also absolutely love shopping with small businesses, especially those run by other moms, and really enjoyed culling little pieces from these shops.  Her room is an eclectic mix of goods from all over the world, and I love to think about all of the creative women who crafted them with love, all while supporting their families.  My hope was to create a soothing space that not only looked pretty, but also was unmistakably a child’s room filled with my daughter’s little treasures. We hope you love these boho and farmhouse baby nursery decor ideas!
