Elle’s Hot Air Balloon First Birthday

Celebrating Elle’s first birthday was so much fun.  I thought it would be fun to make hot air balloons out of paper lanterns, they turned out so cute we have them hanging in Elle’s bedroom now.  We needed a spot for kids to get their picture taken, so I found a large balloon at Hobby Lobby and tied it to a basket.  Too bad Elle didn’t want to get inside!  I had the cake made at a bakery and I added a DIY little hot air balloon and candles. I believe fresh flowers are a must at any gathering!
Happy Birthday Elle!!

Misha’s Up, Up & Away Hot Air Balloon Birthday

Balloon-loving baby Misha got the first birthday party of her mom’s dreams when we pulled together a hot air balloon themed bash. With a wide open lawn and amazing ocean view, the Bel Air Bay Club provided the perfect backdrop for the girly affair.
A mini hot air balloon at the party entrance set the stage for what was to come, and made a fabulous photo booth. Mint green and purple balloons were netted and attached to baskets of flowers as centerpieces for the adult and kids tables. Die-cut balloons were tied to the adorable pink kiddie chairs with purple tulle sashes. Mimicking the large balloon, the sweets table– a lemonade stand borrowed from a family friend– was adorned with the same fabric treatment, to give it a hot air balloon vibe. Hot air balloon garland made of die-cut balloons in various sizes and patterns hung on the buffet and looked like a balloon race.
Kids big and small were not at a loss for entertainment! In addition to a bouncy house for big brother Milan & his friends, mom also got a pirate character to lead the boys on a scavenger hunt armed with balloon swords. A bunny petting zoo, silhouette artist and a floral station where guests could make flower crowns, were unique and fun options to keep guests busy. Everyone enjoyed the concert and music lesson given by one of Milan’s teachers. Misha especially enjoyed the bubbles that flew through the air during the show.
In addition to flower crowns and silhouettes, the babies were gifted with personalized piggy banks and bigger kids received gumball machines filled with pretzel M & Ms.
