I designed and decorated this room for my own “big boy” when I was pregnant with my second, and was looking for something that two little California beach boys could grow into and ultimately share. I was very inspired by a photo of the bedding in the Serena and Lily catalog but put my own spin on it with black furniture, a rather random collection of surfer and beach art and photography, and a hand-painted surfboard. The walls are bold green and there is an occasional hint of orange in the room. Photos by Jackie Culmer Photography.
This is the Yellow Submarine nursery I designed for my son before he was born.
This room used to be my scrapbook/work out/guest bedroom. Once we found out I was pregnant, we decided to keep one half of the room for the guest bed and turn the other side into the nursery, since it’s a fairly big space. It’s my favorite room in our home to sit in now since the blues and greens are so relaxing. I hope it’s a room that Toby will grow to love just as much as I do!
The best piece of advice to starting your nursery is to start with something you love. It may be a stuffed animal as was our case, or a cherished family heirloom, or maybe even crib bedding you HAVE to have.
Finn’s daddy and I met in Alaska and we wanted to create an Alaskan haven that reminded us of where we first met and so Finn could experience some Alaskan spirit.
I knew from the beginning I wanted a green nautical nursery and I wanted it to be a fun place that Parkes would enjoy for years to come. This was the end result and I love it!
Our first nursery. We both love books so much that we decided to go with a Children’s Literature theme for Avery’s room.
Nursery perfect to any little girl and/or princess.
