Flock of Fun Summer Party

Nothing screams summer like bright colors, flamingos and pineapples, and that’s exactly what we were going for with our Flock of Fun Summer Party!
Jen T. by Design had an adorable flamingo party suite that coordinated perfectly with our theme and the décor flowed easily from there. We gave mini lawn ornament flamingos from Oriental Trading a little more personality by spray-painting them each a different bright color, then fancied them with flowers and feathers, of course! The colors in the chevron gift-wrap turned table runner tied everything together as if it was made just for the event. The pineapples were given a little pizazz with confetti to play off the shape of the balloons in the arch over the dessert table. As luck would have it, Target’s Pillow Fort line had a flamingo shower curtain that worked perfectly as our photo-op backdrop – all it needed was a banner and some tropical crepe paper flowers to blend seamlessly with the theme.
To shake their sillies out, our little guests played ring toss with the larger sized flamingos (who also stood guard over the desserts), and hula danced. For their take-home crafts they decorated aqua lace mermaid crowns and felt pineapple clips.
After working up an appetite dancing and crafting, the girls noshed on their choice of cupcakes or cake, and pink lemonade. We added hand-painted green meringues to the tops of the lemon cupcakes to mimic the look of a pineapple, and decorated a naked cake purchased from Target.
Party favors were darling lollipops decorated as flamingos and pineapples.
The day was chock full of merriment crafts, dancing, karaoke, games, giggles, and most importantly friendship and fun!

Amelia’s Flamingo Birthday Party!

I wanted to plan a really fun party that would celebrate Amelia’s personality! She’s a spunky, sweet, and charismatic little girl.  I knew that her love for flamingos, or mingos, as she calls them would make for a great 2nd birthday theme.
As a busy mom, I didn’t have much time to pull it all together so I went to my favorite shops for help.  We ordered sandwiches from a local tea room for the adults while the kids enjoyed an outdoor pizza picnic in between playing on the water toys.  Each child received a water pail with their name on it filled with bubbles and crafts plus snack baskets and juice boxes to enjoy.  It was a beautiful day and am so happy that Anika from A. Fatouros Photography was able to capture it all.

Flamingos and Pineapples Birthday Party

My Daughter Sophia was ecstatic when it occurred to me that we could do a Flamingos and Pineapples party for her 5th birthday! She is actually obsessed with Flamingos because of their beautiful pink color and she loves to eat pineapples during hot summer days. To add to the excitement we celebrated Sophia’s birthday jointly with her dear friend Charlotte.
My backyard was the perfect setting for this Tropical Chic party.  As the birthday theme indicates the party decor consisted of lots of Flamingo and Pineapple decor.   The delicious Strawberry and Chocolate cake was the focal point of the “Flamingo Cafe” dessert table.  It was adorned with fresh flowers and an adorable Flamingo Pick. The girls’ table had a very festive decor. I created the prettiest Floating flower arrangements with Flamingo Picks as centerpieces.  The girls loved the flower shaped floating candles.   Another hit among our little guests were the Pineapple Cups with Flamingo Straws! We had a blast using all the adorable party supplies from our Flamingo Party Theme available at the Via Blossom Shop.
The array of sweet treats were definitely a show stopper!  The incredibly talented, Roni of Roni’s Sugar Creations created the most beautiful Gourmet Apples for the Party!  They were a true masterpiece, almost too pretty to eat. Sabrina of Simply Brigadeiro made the most decadent mini desserts for the party.  They’re called Brigadeiros.  They are “truffle like” bite size desserts in a variety of flavors. They looked adorable in our Petite Blossom Cups!   We also served Flower Cake Pops and chocolate Pineapple Pops. I DIYed the Dessert Table awning by hand-painting it to replicate the bright and festive floral tableware and banner.
The Girls dressed up with pink boas, head boppers, Daisy hair clips and heart shaped sunglasses.  They enjoyed a magic show, followed by a silly fashion parade and a dance party!

Ava’s Flamingo 2nd Birthday

Ava received a flamingo stuffed animal for Christmas that she calls “Mingo”. It’s the cutest thing, and gave me the idea for her second birthday.
I quickly began crafting and searching for items I could use. I found metal flamingos at hobby lobby that were hot pink, but I wanted everything light pink and white, so I used spray paint and hot glued fake ranunculus flowers to their necks. I couldn’t find a striped table runner so I purchased fabric from Walmart, folded it over and voila! I ordered some fake grass (my husband probably thought I was crazy) for the centerpiece and added fake flowers from Michaels/hobby lobby and more spray painted flamingos to it. The white trey holding the fake grass is from home goods, as well as most of the serving pieces. All of the small flower arrangements I put on pails from the $1 section at target. One of my favorite items would be her party hat. I bought a pink and white striped birthday hat and dolled it up with a few fake flowers, a bow at the top, and Pom Pom trim towards the bottom.
I know my time of picking her party themes are quickly coming to an end, so this was a fun one to craft and dream up. It was a wonderful day with family and friends and Ava had a blast.

Genevieve’s Flamingo First Birthday Bash!

Inspired by the book Flora and the Flamingo, we planned a flamingo first birthday bash for our daughter, Genevieve. We used  loads of pinks and orange set against our deep blue dining room. Pinterest provided a lot of the baking inspiration – including the ombré cakes and flamingo sugar cookies. We set up a kids’ table for the party favors so the littles could enjoy their treats too! I incorporated a chalkboard wall with some fun facts about Gen and flamingo yard ornaments in our front yard directed our guests to the party!

Pink and Blue Flamingo Birthday Party

For my daughter Ryan’s 2nd Flamingo Birthday Party, I wanted to have a party that was bright and cheery and fit with a summer theme since her birthday is in July.  I sew for my Etsy shop, The Dandelion Lane and I came across this beautiful blue and pink flamingo fabric and from the inspiration for her flamingo party was born.  I handmade all of the desserts including the flamingo cookies and cupcakes and also made the flamingo pennant banner and her party outfit.  I used fresh flowers to decorate my tables which is a cheap and easy way to decorate and it looks great.  I also bough a bunch of flamingo lawn ornaments for decor outside.  We passed out blue and pink cotton candy as party favors which was also a huge hit.
I wanted something for the kids to be able to do outside and blow up baby pools and sprinklers were perfect for their age.  They were thoroughly entertained for the entire afternoon.
My advice would just be to not be afraid to do things yourself.  You can throw a great party without spending too much money by baking your own cake/cupcakes/cookies and decorating with things like flowers!
