We wanted our daughter to have a magical room that instilled a love of stories, including her own.
We wished to blend our easy modern style with an eclectic, vintage twist when designing our baby’s nursery. What we arrived at was an assemblage of vintage and modern elements with lots of personalized touches and family mementos, including hand-made knit blankets, hand-painted birch trees and stripes on walls, vintage furniture, and a “family tree” comprised of old photos of relatives as children.

Fun, fresh + modern wall arrangement in Addison’s new big girl room.
Whimsical, playful and happy are just a few of the words that describe this gender-neutral shared space nursery. The fun aqua colored walls delicately complement the coordinating red and navy bedding and accents. The crisp, clean, white furniture perfectly finishes this imaginative space.
A big boy room with bunk beds, built-in’s and playspace on the floor!
The Goal: To make this space feel fresh, cozy, and beautiful while keeping everything kid-friendly.
We rent our home but wanted to create a room for our baby that would be just as beautifully decorated and soothing as it would be if we owned. I found a lot of examples of removable and semi-permanent wall decals and then began to search for methods to create our own. We sketched out our design and each took turns refining it until we both felt it was exactly what we wanted. We then began testing different methods of applying the decal to the wall until we found the perfect one. The rest of the room came together around our design. Clean and simple, but colorful, soothing and peaceful – the perfect space for our baby boy.
Vivien’s nursery. Purple stripes, black and white accents.
I needed to create a serene and calm space for the 2 girls. The house is decorated very traditional so I was going for decor that will blend in with the rest of the home. The room wasn’t too big either.
Unique combinations of colors and textures have come together to engage a 7 year old girl to come in and delight in brightness and charm fitting her personality. Her room is rich in not only color but texture and activity. From a luxurious bed to a cozy niche, a dressing area to a play zone, this design will continue to thrive along with her occupant!
The client desired a room that the girls could share and grow into.
I needed to design a space for Josh, a 7 year old boy. The mother wanted the space to be somewhat transitional. The colors should work well with more than one theme, and he should feel great in there when he is 7 as well as when he’s 13. Josh wanted lots of photos of past events on the wall.
I needed to create a fun room for Kiki, a 9 year old girl. The room needed a sleep area plus an arts and crafts area to nurture her creativity. Kiki is very creative and artsy and I needed the room to reflect that. Once we settled on the colors, the rest sort of came together.
I was so excited when I found out I was pregnant! I couldn’t wait to start the Nursery. When we found out we were having a girl… I knew exactly what I wanted. Something she can grow into!
I focused on a modern nursery that would easily transition with Audrey as she grows. A baby’s room that wasn’t too “baby” or overly girlie. Her parents are young, cool, and hip…and that’s what I wanted to convey in the design. Baby Audrey did her best to let me know what she liked too–lots of swirls and lots of kicking.

When we found out that we were expecting a baby boy, my husband immediately said that he wanted the nursery to be truck themed. Not being big on themed rooms, I told him we could do truck accents. I love what we did and so does my husband – he’s even told me that he wishes we could do our bedroom like this. ;)
