I wanted something that blended with the rest of my style but would also grow with a little boy for several years.

A small home remodel required our girls to share a room.  They wanted it bright, but I had to make sure it would be flexible because of their age differences, as well as allow them to grow in it.

Little Hudson turned two!  I couldn’t wait to throw a Southern Style bash for my little Southern Boy!

I like to think this all-white nursery reflects a country-vintage style.  It was a labour of love and took several months to pull together.  I was also very budget conscious throughout this project.  Many of the items in the nursery are second-hand or DIY projects.  I also did not have a lot of space to work with, so I put the change table in the closet and chose smaller furniture items.

My original intent was to keep the baby’s room fairly “gender neutral”. Whoops!  The furniture, bedding and curtains were all bought new, but the rest of the pieces we collected from antique stores and flea markets.  Some needed painting and a little TLC, but others were perfect just the way they were. You can find all of the project details here.

My first child’s nursery.

Tricia Lowenfield, wife, mother, artist, singer, songwriter and designer of today’s Real Room. Tricia loves nothing more than the simple pleasures in life which she exhibits in her creations. It’s also her love of European folk art that inspires her vintage style which is showcased in this charming red and yellow nursery designed for one-month old Evie. The hand-painted dresser and “welcome home morning” custom valance give this room such a sweet and homey feel. After all home is where the heart is. I’m sure little Evie would agree!
