Cookies & Milk Gender Neutral Nursery

Through the years, my mom and I have always been close. She always made me feel like I could share anything with her. We would usually have heart-to-heart conversations late at night, with a glass of milk and a few warm chocolate chip cookies. I hope to have that kind of relationship with my son. I just knew cookies & milk would be a fun theme for his nursery! We really gravitated towards black and white nurseries, so I knew I wanted to use a lot of black, white, and ivory details. We also thought it would be fun to throw in some cognac leather details to add a touch of masculinity to the room. We DIY’d the leather handles on the dresser and nightstand to match the storage bench to do just that! We also saved a bit of money by spray painting the chandelier from gold to matte black. Every time I walk into the nursery, it reminds me of the kind of mom I want to be. 🖤 🍪

Neutral Boho Coastal Nursery

We chose a coastal inspired nursery for my son because of my upbringing in Coastal New England and because we are fortunate enough to live only 1800 steps from the beach. I have always found solace in the sound of the waves crashing and truly appreciated growing up in an area that brought me such peace.
My first job was at Woodman’s of Essex which is famous for their seafood, and is a New England staple. My entire family worked at this establishment as well and we would each say it was of our favorite place to work. We really looked forward to the clam bakes, the local travel and everything that goes along with the lifestyle of living by the beach. We adore this community and hope our son grows up with as much love for it as we have!
My advice to any current or expecting parents is to create something that truly resonates with you and will be meaningful for years to come. I chose neutral tones for the nursery with the consideration that we could one day have a girl who may share the space. I also wanted this room to embody the quaint and charming characteristics of New England that can be appreciated by a boy or a girl, and can be a fun place for them to create memories as they grow up.

Black Wall Trendy Modern Nursery

I knew I wanted a bold accent wall and decided to paint our wood panels black for a dramatic look. I love the black and white trend! I’m also a big fan of earthy neutral tones and wanted to incorporate them into the nursery for some pops of color. I would describe my personal design style as a mix between modern farmhouse and modern boho, and I think Knox’s nursery reflects that with some country western vibes thrown in since we live in the country!

Hawaii Inspired Nursery

Growing up, my family and I spent every summer in Maui, HI (I even took my first steps there!).  We continue our annual visits to this day, only now with all of our families.  We have so many wonderful memories there and I love the immediate feeling of peace and relaxation when the plane lands in Kahului.  When my husband and I found out we were pregnant, I knew I wanted to create a little sanctuary for our baby boy that echoed those feelings.  I wanted to keep it crisp and clean, but also bring in some bright colors, just like Hawaii.  I found these amazing prints by artist, Nick Kuchar of all the places we love on the island.  They had a playful and vintage flair, and I knew I wanted to design the room around those prints.  The other items that we selected played off the color palette that Nick used in his prints, and gave the room a cohesive look.  I especially love the ombré mobile which reminds me of the beautiful blue ocean.  We absolutely love how Owen’s paradise came together!
