Rory’s Puppy Nursery

Rory’s nursery was actually a therapeutic experience for me to work on while my life seemed to be in complete disarray. My husband, in the midst of COVID, left his job for reasons that we knew needed to happen. It was the best choice for our family. However, of course, in the middle of a pandemic looked and felt a little crazy. Working on my son’s nursery as a creative outlet in our home while we literally couldn’t leave was a sweet and early bond from the womb to Rory as I dreamed up a space to bring him home to. The world felt crazy, our life felt crazy, but Rory’s room felt just right. Being pregnant through a pandemic was incredibly hard and, at times, isolating if I wasn’t careful. Rory’s room, as I assembled it and thought through every detail, felt sweet and reminded me of the important things in life.
As far as the design, I wanted something completely different than my other son’s room, which was an all white space with shiplap and Melissa & Doug safari animals. So I went for a deep blue with gold accents! The blue used for this accent wall is Inkwell by SW and Alabaster everywhere else. We have these colors throughout our home as bathroom vanities and doors. I love subtle pops of color in an all white home, so a blue door here or a dark blue vanity there is the perfect dose for me. The puppy prints are actually the starting inspiration for the entire room! I found them on Etsy and fell in love. They were as beautiful in person as I hoped they would be. I chose “dalmatian print” touches for the rug and the changing table to further the puppy theme. The Babyletto navy changing table matched the Inkwell wall perfectly, and then the neon sign over it was the final touch that made the room feel unique and entirely different than his brother’s. I intentionally chose to do a big bean bag rather than another rocker so that our toddler could be part of bedtime for his little brother. So far, it’s been exactly what we had hoped it would be. And, because it was Pottery Barn Teen, it actually is a great size for mom and dad. We have no trouble getting up and down with Rory in our arms. It’s very comfortable and I think I will be telling all moms to get a massive bean bag for late night feedings rather than a rocker from now on!
A little modern, a little classic- Rory’s puppy nursery turned out perfectly in my book. I hope you guys love it, too!

A Hunting Nursery with Classic Style

This sweet hunting nursery was sent to us by a grandmama-to-be (Diane Easley) and was designed by her daughter, Katie McClanahan.  Katie came across our Washed Linen in Gray Crib Collection on Instagram, and thought it would be the perfect addition to her baby’s room.
Katie found her inspiration for this space on Pinterest, with a little help from her husband who is an avid hunter and fisherman.  Hence the hint of woodland style decor.  A new dad must be thrilled to be able to have some say in his baby boy’s room!

For a nursery inspired by the outdoors, the deer head wall accent and buffalo plaid curtains are the ideal accents.  Often hunting inspired rooms are designed with dark colors such as red and black.  This room’s light color palette is chic and clean.  The simple design can easily go with any style room.  You don’t always have to go full lumberjack to bring a woodsy feel to your nursery.  The subtle infusion of a few rustic accents adds just the right touch to this hunting themed nursery.

The soft gray and muted blue colors creates a serene and cozy room.  The patterned buffalo check nursery curtains and area rug compliment the solid gray linen crib bedding perfectly.  Katie added personalization to the room by adding a monogram to the crib rail cover.  The gorgeous area rug from Lulu and Georgia brings warmth, texture and relaxed sophistication to the room.  White floating shelves hold favorite books to read in the comfy glider from Best Chairs.  Watercolor hunting and fishing inspired prints were a gift from a friend.  The cottage style crib was purchased used, and repainted white.

Coastal Nursery with Stunning Paper Boat Wallpaper

This nursery was in dire need of brightness, function and FUN! My Clients already had so many great pieces, but they just weren’t working together cohesively.
We completely transformed the space by freshening up the wall colour, installing this wonderful paper boat wallpaper and selecting additional furniture and accessories that would really pull together a bright coastal vibe. The room now has a beautiful bookcase to display and store toys and accessories, a fun acrylic book ledge library, some large toy bins and tons of textural wall decor pieces, like the incredible blue ombre Lorena Canals wall hanging. The Captain art print really adds a nice pop of colour to the crisp white walls. We added a swan paper mobile above the crib, and I love how it floats gracefully in front of the wallpaper. Also, the various shades of blue that were sourced for the space add so much depth and tonality, seen in the adorable pehr cushion, narwhal crib sheet, light blue cushion in stitched Ellen Degeneres fabric and lamb knit doll.
Simplicity is always best conveyed when designing a space with purpose, and that’s just what we did. The result? A delicately coastal room that is calming, serene and perfectly practical for its’ sweet little resident.

Navy Modern Boy’s Nursery

This boy’s nursery is modern with clean lines and a masculine feel. We had to get creative with placing the furniture in this design because the room is triangular in shape. The color palette for this nursery is primarily white and gray. For a bit of contrast we added navy details throughout the room. The client fell in love with a super versatile crib in white with acrylic details. We opted for a custom dresser with a changing table tray to get the perfect fit and color. One of my favorite pieces in this space is the light-colored modern rocking chair, which is compact yet comfortable. We used mixed metallics in this space so the chrome base of the rocker ties in with gold detail on the side table. Even the cozy textured gray rug has metallic details. The storage bench with a surprise pop of color doubles as additional seating. We installed two white shelving units on both sides of the bench for a peaceful, symmetrical look and a display for decor and toys. The major statement penguin photograph was a favorite of my client! It makes for a playful artistic focal point and I love that is versatile enough to grow with the child and space.

A Sweet Blue & Gray Nursery for a Baby Boy

What baby boy wouldn’t be thrilled to be welcomed home to this cozy and comfy nursery?!  With an abundance of natural light, this room creates a calming retreat for a baby.  The blue buffalo plaid wallpaper, rustic crib and a touch of greenery give the room the look and feel of a classic farmhouse nursery.  Morning news anchor of FOX 5 in Atlanta, Katie Beasley, designed this precious room for her new baby, Cole Davis, born October, 19, 2018.  This sweet nursery serves as a warm, welcoming space for Katie’s new baby boy!
Cole’s room is the perfect mix of neutral colors and textures.  The blue buffalo plaid wallpaper makes a bold statement, and is the perfect backdrop for the rustic wood crib.  This nursery gives an abundance of baby boy nursery ideas and features sweet baby boy nursery decor.
The mix of different color woods in the nursery furniture gives the room an eclectic feel.  The white dresser from Wayfair doubles as a changing station, saving space in the room.

Katie chose our simple and neutral white and gray trimmed crib rail cover from our Small Wonders Crib Collection for the crib bedding, which fits perfectly in with the color scheme of the room.  The rustic crib and the plaid wallpaper give the nursery a farmhouse style.
A cozy corner in the nursery provides a relaxing spot for feedings and bedtime stories.  The gold floor lamp gives a modern twist to the room.  The nursery is well organized with wall shelves and cubbies for toys and more.
Thank you Katie for sharing this classic and timeless room with us!  This classic baby’s room will never go out of style!

Black + White + All the Colors Gender Neutral Nursery

While I was pregnant, my husband and I decided early on to wait until our baby’s birth to find out the gender. Because of this, deciding how to decorate a nursery was a bit of a challenge. Neutrals are great, but being someone who loves color and lots of it, I knew an all white and gray nursery wasn’t for me. I decided to decorate the nursery in black, white, and grey with lots of patterns and textures and throw in the whole color wheel to brighten things up.
