Boho + Farmhouse Baby Nursery

When decorating my children’s spaces, I always look for ways to incorporate the modern farmhouse style of the rest of our home with the whimsy of a child’s space. For this nursery, I knew I wanted to give a vintage feel to the space, so we installed a shiplap wall (which is found in other parts of our home), but in the nursery we installed it vertically. I felt like this gave the space a retro look to correlate with the other rattan and vintage inspired pieces in her room. I love soft and warm neutrals so I knew I wanted to start with a simple white canvas and add subtle colors in small areas of the room.
I also absolutely love shopping with small businesses, especially those run by other moms, and really enjoyed culling little pieces from these shops.  Her room is an eclectic mix of goods from all over the world, and I love to think about all of the creative women who crafted them with love, all while supporting their families.  My hope was to create a soothing space that not only looked pretty, but also was unmistakably a child’s room filled with my daughter’s little treasures. We hope you love these boho and farmhouse baby nursery decor ideas!

Modern Little Bohemian Nursery

For this white card project, we worked with grays blues and neutral tones. The modern gray crib and chest of drawers we’re mixed with a more rustic style, including linen curtains, barnwood and some vintage decor accents such as a really old children rocking chair and a faux fur blanket in a vintage cream color. The room is surrounded by old pine wood shelves that are filled with old toys and objects provided by our clients. What makes this nursery unique is the mix of colors and textures. We opted for modern patterns but stayed neutral with all the colors. We added bohemian accents such as a handmade dreamcatcher, hanging leaves and cactus, little arrow prints and a woven area rug. This nursery is modern and rustic, and filled with fun little objects.

Rustic Bohemian Floral Nursery

The moment I knew I was expecting Rosie was unreal. I had a dream of a baby crying in a flower garden. I was surrounded by people but I was the only one that can hear the awful scream. I took off into the flower garden desperately trying to find this baby. As I got closer to the baby, I woke up before I could see the baby face. When I woke up I was drenched in sweat and my husband walked into the room and surprised me with roses (hint, her name). At that moment I knew I was expecting. After waiting for the gender reveal to confirm I was expecting a girl I decided to pull inspiration from my pregnancy to design Rosie’s nursery. I decided to keep the theme going with my outdoor maternity session so I can display them in Rosie’s nursery. When designing your nursery, pick a theme and go with your own ideas. This makes it easier to create something original and not get overwhelmed when you can’t find the same decor as someone else. A quick tip to make any room in your home feel complete is to add photographs. What better time to snap pictures while you’re expecting and don’t forget to display your newborn session too. Shop around your home and vintage boutiques to save money and repurpose something. You can use anything you find the way you choose. I found an old Ikea picture frame and used it to frame a deer head I purchased from Home Goods. My curtains are hanging on a wall rack. I found affordable tie top curtains from Amazon and used the hanging wall rack as a curtain rod. I couldn’t leave the antler hanging wall rack behind, it was just too perfect for Rosie’s Room.
