Boho Black and White Nursery

We wanted a gender neutral vibe for our new baby boy arriving in early April! We love boho but wanted a modern feel which is why we introduced the mid century feel with the furniture. Instead of having a closet, we took off the closet doors and put the dresser in the closet to make the room feel more spacious. The rattan baskets and accents helped create more storage opportunities throughout the nursery!

Star Wars Nursery

When our client came to us with the exciting news that she and her husband were expecting, we were thrilled and honored to be hired to design her nursery! Her only request was that the theme be Star Wars.
From the custom designed neon light, to the bold black wallpaper the acrylic boxes filled with lego built figurines, the collection of custom framed artwork for a splash of color and all the details in between this space was an absolute dream to create. All that was left was to add the most adorable baby to enjoy it!

Cookies & Milk Gender Neutral Nursery

Through the years, my mom and I have always been close. She always made me feel like I could share anything with her. We would usually have heart-to-heart conversations late at night, with a glass of milk and a few warm chocolate chip cookies. I hope to have that kind of relationship with my son. I just knew cookies & milk would be a fun theme for his nursery! We really gravitated towards black and white nurseries, so I knew I wanted to use a lot of black, white, and ivory details. We also thought it would be fun to throw in some cognac leather details to add a touch of masculinity to the room. We DIY’d the leather handles on the dresser and nightstand to match the storage bench to do just that! We also saved a bit of money by spray painting the chandelier from gold to matte black. Every time I walk into the nursery, it reminds me of the kind of mom I want to be. 🖤 🍪

Boho Neutral Nursery

We didn’t know the sex of our baby while I was pregnant, so we wanted a very neutral and relaxing space. I had an overall vision for what I wanted, but slowly picked out pieces at a time to slowly put it all together. Sometimes it’s worth waiting for the “perfect” piece! We also decided to have an accent wall behind the crib. We took on this very easy DIY by purchasing some wood moulding from Home Depot and some paint. Prior to putting it together we used painters tape to see what size we wanted the rectangle frames to be and how it would look in the room.

Black Wall Trendy Modern Nursery

I knew I wanted a bold accent wall and decided to paint our wood panels black for a dramatic look. I love the black and white trend! I’m also a big fan of earthy neutral tones and wanted to incorporate them into the nursery for some pops of color. I would describe my personal design style as a mix between modern farmhouse and modern boho, and I think Knox’s nursery reflects that with some country western vibes thrown in since we live in the country!

Scandinavian Woodland Nursery

Our house is surrounded by woodland and trees so I wanted our son’s nursery to showcase the animals he would see every day. I knew I wanted woodland themed.
I teamed up with Elisabeth from Etsy E Design shop Crowning Joie Designs. Elisabeth worked with me to bring my vision for a woodland themed nursery to life. I had seen Cedar Tree wallpaper on Project Nursery website early on in my pregnancy and LOVED it. This was our starting point/ inspiration and it went from there! the final result is a beautiful, mid century/ modern /Scandinavian /woodland themed nursery and its the nursery of my dreams!
My tips and advice are:
1. invest in affordable design help like Crowning Joie, it is a great idea to do this before you start to spend money… it really helps to have expertise, direction and insight for your vision, an Etsy shop like Crowning Joie is an easy, affordable way to do it. My final months of pregnancy and labour happened during Covid 19 Quarantine so I couldn’t get out and shop. An Online shopping list was key when I couldn’t go out and browse the shops.
2. Start with an item that you love and let everything else flow from there!
My little boy arrived in May and LOVES his room, especially the wallpaper!

Monochrome Modern Nursery

We are expecting our fourth and final baby – a BOY! The general vibe in our home is more of a modern farmhouse, but I have had this desire to do something more modern, and I knew this would be the perfect opportunity! We are big DIYers around here, so I sat down and started planning. I drew up some things that were completely out of our comfort zone, put a ton of hope and faith in my talented husband and showed him my plans. He not only brought my visions to life, but absolutely ROCKED them. This space is small, but mighty…and I am SO proud of the final product.
We designed the feature wall and created it with mdf boards. My husband built the sliding wood door for his closet, wood shelves and the rad modern style blanket ladder we saw on Shanty2Chic’s blog.

Portters Black, White and Green Nursery Pad

When we found out we were having our 3rd boy we choose not to disclose the gender to family.  So I started on this black, white and green room tell people that I was going to add gold to make it more girly if that what we ended up having.  I’m glad I got to keep it just like this its perfect for him.
The ceiling is a labor of love from a 9 month pregnant woman climbing up and down a ladder with a laser level and chalk line. The + are just vinyl stickers that I got made from a friend of ours.
The Chandler was designed by me and custom made by my amazing cousin.  We purchased an old light from Ebay and with a few fluorescent lighting grids plaster and paint he made this AWESOMENESS.
Enjoy!

Star Gazer Nursery

A fun twist on a celestial theme. I’m a bit of a Star Wars nerd and of anything galactic. I knew I wanted to model a room with subtle accents of the two. My overall inspiration came from the Storm Trooper so I opted on an overall white color scheme with touches of grey and black. I came across this chandelier from Ikea, which reminds me of the Death Star. We received this awesome solar system mobile as a gift (from pottery barn) which adds a pop of color to the space (pun). My favorite feature of the room is the half moon wall. I’m obsessed with ferm living half moon wall paper, but one wall would have costed the entire budget of my room. So I decided to DIY it. Which ended up costing me about $15 in supplies and 6 hours worth of work!

Ashton’s Modern Monochrome Nursery

Designing and decorating Ashton’s room was such a blast! I have always loved the simplicity of black and white so it was an easy choice when I found out baby number two was a boy. I also relished in the fact that this project was drastically different from my daughter’s Restoration Hardware inspired room that was designed around an ivory Bratt Decor iron crib with a pastel pink and gray color palette. Don’t get me wrong, her nursery will always be one of my favorites but I enjoyed going a completely different direction this time.

I started this project early, purchasing items sporadically until I felt I had all the pieces of the puzzle. I also knew I wanted a book wall and carefully curated the books I wanted to display. My favorite item in Ashton’s room is the beautiful Babyletto Lucite Crib! To see more of Ashton’s Room, please visit The Millennial Mama.

Jax’s Nursery with Black and White Accent Wall

This room was being used as a large closet by the previous homeowners. I knew it could make a great nursery with the right layout and a fun accent wall. My husband and I used tape and paint for the wall pattern. I also carried over this paint color on the closet doors to give them a fresh look. I didn’t want typical baby boy colors, so I brought in some leather, woods, and other rustic accessories found on etsy and at homegoods. I wanted a space that could grow with my son.

McClains Cactus Nursery

This project was designed for my son McClain! After our first son, Hilton’s Fox Nursery had such AMAZING feedback the pressure was on to design a space that McClain could be as equally proud of (already with the 2nd time mom guilt). As with Hilton’s room we wanted the rug to be a focal point, so I contacted American Dakota with my ideas, and they did a custom color on their already gorgeous Bounty Rug! Once I had the rug, I went to work on the other elements of the room! I decided to use the very on trend Cactus Theme, because I feel like it works as a nursery but can also grow with the boys, or would work as a fun office space once the nursery is no longer needed!

The Edge, Non-Nursery Nursery

Millennial dad-to-be, Paul, straight off the bat warned me that they didn’t want cutesy cartoon animals or candy-colored rainbows. While on a FaceTime video call Paul admitted his wife’s requests for this space ruled supreme, he did share the one inspiration he had for the space – Shel Silverstein’s books. Specifically the illustration from the book of “Where The Sidewalk Ends”. It’s a black ink sketch of the two little kids and their faithful pup walking to the end of a cliff after passing a sign that reads “Keep Off The Edge”.
Now I had a challenge! The last comment before ending our FaceTime consult was from Paul, who implored me to, and I quote, “Shock us.”
This room went from virtual inspiration to a very tangible and well-designed space in just over 4 weeks. The actual installation and placement of furnishings and décor took several hours. As with the previous digital e-design process, these clients did their fair share of work to get the room ready which helped keep the cost of hiring a designer affordable.
“She nailed it! We thought we had a pretty tough style request, she totally embraced it, down to the little touches like the designer light bulbs in the custom pendant or incorporating watercolor pastels without seeming babyish.” – Paul Jarrett
We encourage clients designing a nursery to consider what style suits THEM best. This is part of the YouthfulNest design philosophy which stresses the importance of creating a space that makes parents feel comfortable and therefor more confident to care for their newborn.

Black and White Modern Baby Boy Nursery

This mom of four wanted anything but a traditional nursery for her first little boy. She fell in love with the wallpaper and the rest is history. Black furniture and a stark white glider keep the room simple with such bold wallpaper. Minimal accents were used, yet just enough to make the room feel quaint. The buffalo check pillow cover from Caitlin Wilson adds personality to the white chair. Sleek roman shades adorn the windows while the clear book sleeves are a nice touch to store all of baby Griffin’s favorite books. A spuntik light fixture is the perfect addition of gold in this modern, funky nursery.

Modern Nursery with a Touch of Handmade

Our nursery is a mixture of all of the things I love! I wanted a modern feel to compliment the all white room and panel walls, we wanted to include a modern crib and touches of handmade goods (blocks, letter sign, prints), as well making sure their was a little comfort and dashes of color like the quilt, rug, clouds, mobile, we also included our love for dyi by adding  a dresser, hooks, book shelve and  most of all I wanted it to reflect comfort.
