We were inspired by Joanna Gaines black and white wallpaper design. We decided to go with neutral colors as well as black and white to create a modern but simple nursery.
Hi Project Nursery!!!!
I wanted to create a space not only for baby but for mom as well! A space that wasn’t overloaded with chaos and themes but a place to relax and bond. The accent wall is a color called ‘chimney’ and it came out to be the perfect hue of calmness. I loved Mixing in the pink chair, because that’s MY chair after all, and it gives the boys room a bit of a feminine touch. It glides and swivels, too! All in all I wanted to be proud of the nursery and I most certainly am! My goal was to be featured on Project Nursery because they showcase all the best styles, themes, and nursery trends! This is my first baby and I can’t wait to welcome him to him new home next month!
Love,
Becca
This is my sons room. He used the crib for the first 2 years and then we took it out and he moved over to the twin bed. I liked having the twin bed in the room from the start, because when he was an infant I would sleep there a lot while I was sleep training him.
My name is Julie and I blog at Happy Home Fairy – a place where I love sharing encouragement and fun ideas for moms. After 4+ years of trying and then surrendering and then giving away allll the baby things from our other 2 babies (#irony!) – we were blessed with baby boy #3! Anticipating this sweet surprise has been the best adventure. And decorating his nursery was my favorite thing to do while dealing with pregnancy insomnia – ha! I really wanted to create a peaceful space that reflected the qualities I pray our boy will have – strength, courage, and kindness.
Removable wallpaper is a very popular trend right now. I really wanted to incorporate it somehow into the baby’s room. When I came across Rocky Mountain Wall Decals, I knew they would have just what I was looking for!
I have a bit of a love obsession with buffalo plaid, so the Buffalo Check Wallpaper was perfect for the statement wall when you walk into the nursery. My friend, Marcy from Project Artwork, offered to help put up the wallpaper and let me tell you – it was so much fun! It took several hours, but it was really very simple! The most challenging part was lining up the patterns, but other than that, the process was pretty easy. I absolutely love how it turned out.
When I saw THESE beautifully styled shelves paired with the IKEA Hemnes dresser, I was so inspired to create my own! At first, I tried to recreate the shelves exactly as the ones that had inspired me, but then it just wasn’t right. So I kept playing with it until it became my own. It was such a good lesson for me to not rush into copying something, but to be thoughtful and intentional within my own creative place.
Above our glider I had to hang some faux taxidermy because apparently that is my new hobby (see my boys’ bedroom reveal and also the preschool welcome center that I got to design). These animal heads are handmade by the cutest little shop on Etsy called In Rainbows.
I definitely think my favorite thing about this room is the subtle messages of strength, bravery, and sweet peace it communicates! I can’t even tell you how many times I have wandered in there to escape everything (ie. the older two brothers fighting to the death with a laundry basket – true story) and just pray/dream/imagine what life will be like with our new little wonder.
I hope he loves his room and I hope you do, too!

There is something so special about putting all of the little touches into what will be our second baby boys room. I remember doing the same when I was pregnant with my first son, and sitting in his nursery for hours thinking about who he would be, picturing him playing in it, and imagining the time we’d spend in there. It’s amazing to see that become a reality, and his bedroom is one of his favorite places in our home. I hope the same goes for this new little guy, because there’s been a lot of love put into creating this space for him as well.
My inspiration started with the “To The Moon and Back” sign, purchased the week that I found out that I was expecting. From there, I decided I wanted to stick with a black and white color scheme, with a theme of “the night sky” as my inspiration. Little by little I found pieces to achieve this– striving for both something modern and classic, but appropriate for a baby. I am so happy with how it turned out– as is my first born, who now spends hours playing in his brothers nursery!
While I was pregnant, my husband and I decided early on to wait until our baby’s birth to find out the gender. Because of this, deciding how to decorate a nursery was a bit of a challenge. Neutrals are great, but being someone who loves color and lots of it, I knew an all white and gray nursery wasn’t for me. I decided to decorate the nursery in black, white, and grey with lots of patterns and textures and throw in the whole color wheel to brighten things up.
An energetic and clean contemporary nursery in Toronto’s east end town of Leslieville. What a joy it was to work on this project, and a perfect baby boy it’s for! This bold space has so much character. I was inspired to use a monochromatic palette which is reflected in the FLOR carpet tiles and Flensted mobile. With pops of colour and customized furniture, this streamline nursery is hip, modern and the ideal space for mom, dad and baby to enjoy!
I designed this bedroom for my eight-year-old girl Bela. We both got really trired of her pink walls and thought it was time to freshen up a bit. I wanted to create a timeless space for her. So I opted for neutral color walls, lots of geometric patterns, streamline furniture pieces, and colorful accents. The space feels so airy and yet very cozy.
Sophisticated Harry Potter inspired baby nursery for gender neutral nurseries
We added DIY wainscoting to give a cottage feel. We went with a gender neutral pallet before we knew the sex of the baby. The walls are painted moonshine by Benjamin Moore.
In searching for inspiration for Kaiven’s room, I found that most boy nurseries felt like an extension of the mom – Just another room for her – I wanted this space nursery to be for him and not for me. I also wanted the space to be able to grow with him.
I started the project knowing I wanted to use the black and cream Dalmatian print wallpaper as a backdrop; from there I added coral and gold with green palm accents. Nurseries are so fun because you can use themes and colors that are completely separate from the rest of your house!
We turned our first floor “formal living room” into a fun entertainment room for our family of three.
My clients are a busy professional couple with a delightful toddler boy. He had been nestled in the landing below their third-floor bedroom, the space was cozy with just enough room for a crib and a chest of drawers. When Henry turned two they knew it was time for him to have a proper room or his own. The brief was for the room to be as much playroom as bedroom. We tried to utilzie the closet as much as possible for storage to allow more space in the room for toys and play. In terms of the aesthetics the mom had some great black and white photos she wanted to use but was otherwise very open to the color scheme.
When my family moved to a new home last summer, I took the opportunity to evolve what had been “Quinlan’s Yellow Submarine Nursery” (also on Project Nursery) into a room that would grow with my son as far into childhood as possible. I incorporated many of the decorative items, most furniture, as well as the overall color scheme from his original nursery, but toned down the wall color to gray and added a black and white “base” to anchor the multi-colored accents.
I started working on this room two months ago when we moved to a new place where Emma can get her own room. Till then, most of the stuff where in my head and in my pinterest page, and I just waited to execute them…
I wanted to do a retro-inspired room for my little guy. I have designed 2 great rooms for my daughters and loved doing those. I wanted his space to be fun and energetic.
This is a fun nursery filled with DIY projects and thrift store makeovers. The budget was tight so we used things we already had and inexpensive treasures we found along the way. I played with patterns and textures to keep things sophisticated yet playful. photo credit: http://blog.amoryanderson.com/
Gray, blush pink and copper, vintage-inspired nursery. Lots of personal/heirloom/hand-made touches throughout.
